FEAR

“What on earth are you afraid of?”

(Compiled by Michael T. Sullivan, MD)

“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy

that will be for all the people.  For today in the city of David,

a Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.”

(Lk 2:10-11)

In medical terms, “fear” is often defined as an unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger, often accompanied by increased autonomic activity (increased heart rate, blood pressure and sweating).  “Anxiety” is defined by an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by the same physiological signs, by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one’s capacity to cope with it.  However, “fear” in the most general term as used in the English vernacular, and so often in the multitude of mystical gifts from God the Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Emmitsburg through Gianna Sullivan, most often implies anxiety and usually loss of courage.  The moral evaluation of anxiety begins with the exercise of prudence, to discover if there are valid grounds for the apprehension.  If there are not, to act on the anxiety or fail to act because of it would be a lack of trusting God’s Providence.

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud

and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message

and heed what is written in it,

for the appointed time is near.”

(Rev. 1:3)

The Transition

In over 80 public and private messages since 1993 from Our Lady of Emmitsburg, the phrase “new tomorrow” has been mentioned, the first in July, 1998.  Our Lady has referred to this “end of the era”, which she describes as a “transition” from the previous era into a new beginning, from a new dawn into a new tomorrow.  Webster’s Dictionary defines “transition” as the passage, movement, development or evolution from one state, stage, subject, style or place to another.  In her Messages to the world Our Lady of Emmitsburg has used this concept on two different occasions:

“It was my Son, the Child Jesus, Who came forth into this world representing the Truth about Life, the ‘infusion of Life in God.’  The transition from the ‘child’ to your ‘crucified’ Savior was the transition from life (as you know it) to the death of sin and birth into eternal life.  The Child Jesus renewed the world in the hope of God’s Truth with the invitation for all people to live in purity and innocence without self-seeking ways or the ways of malice, hatred and violence….Through Him alone, can you have eternal life.”  (Private OLOE, Sept. 14, 2002)  “There was once a time when humanity was corrupted and was then brought back to the Father through the one Salvific Act of my Son.  That was the corruption that began with Adam and Eve, but which was later turned into a new tomorrow through my ‘fiat’ and the grace of the Holy Trinity which was bestowed upon humanity.”  (Private OLOE, May 30, 2005)

And in clarifying some of the confusion about Papal succession which had been allegedly prophesied by Our Lady in Garabandal, Spain in the 1960s, Our Lady of Emmitsburg in 2005 described this period of time between the death of Pope John Paul II and the time when the Church would move to a more liberal Pope as a “transitional” period.  Yes, because of the holiness of Pope John Paul II, she explained that God had granted the Church and the world what seems like a reprieve during which Pope Benedict XVI will serve the Church, before the time when a more worrisome direction may be taken by the institutional Church:

“There have been many people praying to my most beloved Pope John Paul II.  He is most holy, and he dwells in the Sacred Heart of my Son.  Yet, because of his holiness there are so many hierarchy and officials who would now prefer this most holy Apostolate (the Papacy) to be more liberal.  I must tell you that during this present time frame, this period is transitional; for those who desired to rule now have to regroup, since many had scattered because of the holiness of my most beloved Pope (JPII)….Most certainly at this time, it is necessary for you also to regroup and stand firm in the Truth with the blessing from God the Father…”  (Private OLOE, April 20, 2005)

When Our Lady of Emmitsburg first spoke about this “new tomorrow” in 1998, she cautioned her children not to ask “Why” to God, but rather to ask “Why” of themselves, and then She encouraged them to both hope and anticipate:

”Remain focused on the angelic Truths of God’s Love.  Do not allow deceiving thoughts to sway you into disbelieving in God’s Love or think that God has forgotten you.  Do not look at the current events of the world and ask, ‘Why has God allowed this?’  Look at the current affairs in the world and ask yourself, ‘Why have I allowed this by not responding to God’s gift of Love?’  Unite your prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Have hope and look in anticipation to a new tomorrow filled with God’s Love and Peace.”
  (Public OLOE, Oct. 29, 1998)

“Do not look to what the world is doing, but look to what my Son is about to give.  Look not for the quantity of people who are willing to bear it, but rather look for those who have given limitlessly and unreservedly their unconditional ‘yes.’  There you will find the transition to a new tomorrow and one which is most pleasing to my Son.”  (Private OLOE, April 20, 2005)  “It does not take many people.  It only takes a few for the world to know about the great hope and change.  A new tomorrow can begin with the inception of His Love and through the miraculous works of His Most Sacred Heart which was pierced and torn.”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 21, 2003)

“Come, let us return to the Lord….

Let us strive to know the Lord; as certain as the dawn is His coming,

and His judgment shines forth like the light of day!

He will come to us like the rain,

like spring rain that waters the earth.”

(Hos 6:1-3)

It was her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who several years earlier had spoken about the new dawn and the tomorrow that would follow, as He tried to rid humanity of both the fear and uncertainty of the future:

“The dawn brings on a new day, a new day filled with My Love, goodness, tenderness and gentleness.  The dawn is the break from the darkness of the night when the light rises and shines through to brighten the pathway of love and the horizon of freshness, hopes and wonders.  There is no more fear of the dark and uncertainty of the future.  The dawn brings hope for the tomorrow of My Love.  The dawn enlightens and unfolds My Love today.  It is good, and those who persevere await the moment in hope and confidence.  They know the night will end and that with time the dawn will emerge and the light will brighten the sky.”  (JOM, Vol V, #14, Aug. 1, 1995)

“For His anger lasts but a moment; a lifetime, His good will.

At nightfall weeping enters in, but with the dawn, rejoicing.”

(Ps 30:6)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg describes her own role in bringing in this new dawn, first sharing her own life experiences during the Birth of her Son, our Savior:

“God in His Love instructed my soul and spoke to me in the middle of the silence and darkness of the world.  There I surrendered in the trust and poverty of a child.  I did not know the lane I would travel or the route.  I had only one desire, that of reaching the summit of Love.  My Joseph and I were led by God through passages where we saw nothing but half-veiled light, but that Light was God Himself advancing us toward his mountain of Love.”  (Public OLOE, Dec. 16, 1999)  “On the night when my Son was born, it was cold and dark; and yes, it was sad because I wanted Him to have all the good things a mother could give.  So there He was, lying there crying, and I was sad.  My spouse was sad that I was sad and my Son was crying.  But then I looked into His eyes; and like in that glorious moment when every newborn babe has just barely opened his baby eyes, I could see Life in Him.  Just the glimpse of that moment was Joy indeed….Then what day after day seemed to be so harsh and so filled with turmoil, turned out to be glorious, day after day, filled with joy after joy.  I mention this to you because it is the same for you.  What once was dark, sad and in turmoil, and you with no place to rest your souls, now in the glimpse of the Newborn will open a new dawn; and day after day after day will be a new tomorrow, glorious and glorious and more glorious.”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 25, 2002)

“You also, children, are invited to walk the passage of Love, even though it may be veiled with silence and little consolation.  Surrender in hope and watch.  Your Jesus will turn your sorrow and darkness into joy, and a luminous light will dawn a new tomorrow.  Wait in anticipation and adore Him.  Walk where He leads you with the trust and poverty of a child.  The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you!...Nothing will be impossible, for He is God” (Public OLOE, Dec. 16, 1999)

“What is impossible for human beings is possible for God.”

(Lk 18:27)

In addressing both those who do not believe that a new dawn is coming and those who do, Our Lady of Emmitsburg uses this opportunity to emphasize the value of prayer:

“I am very grateful to my Son and to God the Father, for through the gift of the Holy Spirit I have been able to be with you and to proclaim His Good News of a new dawn.  Many would think that there is not a new dawn coming.  They have given up hope.  Fools they are, due to ignorance and their lack of knowledge and prayer.  Those who are wise are those who know the Truth and live not by the way of the world, even though they must live in the world.”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 30, 2006)

“Without prayer there would be no hope.  Because you pray, you hope in God.  Because there is hope, there is Love in the world; and you can persevere with fortitude.  You can have a vision of a new tomorrow.” (Private OLOE, Apr. 11. 2005)  “I most graciously accept all of your petitions because they are important to you and to me.  You do not realize the power you have to make a new tomorrow.  I pray you will find it now before it is too late.  You can change many things.”  (Private OLOE, May 2, 2007)

The Role of the Family

“So they (the shepherds) went in haste and found Mary and Joseph,

and the infant lying in the manger.”

(Lk 2:16)

“And on entering the house, they (the Magi) saw the child with Mary His Mother.

(Mt 2:11)

“The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about Him;

and Simeon blessed them….”

(Lk 2:33)

“The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream…

Joseph rose and took the child and His Mother by night for Egypt.”

(Mt 2:12-14)

“When Herod had died,

The angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt….

He rose, took the child and his Mother, and went to the land of Israel.”

(Mt 2:19, 21-22)

“Son, why have you done this to us?

Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.”

(Lk 2:48)

The “family unit” might be defined as the basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children or any of various social units differing from, but regarded as equivalent to, the traditional family.  So too in a more spiritual sense, it might be considered as a group of people united by certain convictions or a common affiliation (prayer family).  Our Lady of Emmitsburg touches on the importance and some of the characteristics of that family unit.  She then invites her children to look to the Holy Family as a model:

“What is important is that the family unit is “holy”….Prayer must be essential.  Yes, there are good times with much happiness, and there are troubled times, even with tribulations, frustrations, challenges and sorrow; but the family unit will live, if you desire it….The family who loves will be together and be a light for this new tomorrow.  Would it not be wise if you would ponder, consider and put into action prayer in the family unit?”  (Private OLOE, Jun. 14, 2008)

“There is coming a refreshing new tomorrow when you can take your pain and sufferings and turn them into joy by reflecting on the Holy Family….Ponder the way We lived as We walked the earth.  Then thank the undivided Holy Trinity for the ultimate act of Love we lived for you.  As you praise the Holy Family, you can yourselves in your own families realize that you are not only invited to be holy, but you can be holy.  When you focus on the Holy Family, then there is no way or time left to focus on those who do not love you or who are not charitable to you, nor on those who are bitter or angry towards you.  But in turn, because of the great glory for my Son in your prayers of thanksgiving to Him, glory then returns back to you threefold.  Focusing on the Holy Family protects you with the cloak of my mantle.  It inspires you to live fully within my Son’s means and through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  It invites you to the humility, righteousness and justice exemplified with great zeal and love by my beloved Joseph.  And it blesses you with the omnipotence of the Child Jesus Whose power and glory reign on this earth and throughout the entire universe.  It gives great glory to the incomprehensible Holy Trinity:  Father, Son & Holy Spirit.  Then your worldly cares, as well as the anxiety and division within your own souls, will dissipate.”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 22, 2003)

To the Youth

“He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them;

and His Mother kept all these things in her Heart.

And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and Man.”

(Lk 2:51-52)

This entire topic of the “end of an era” with all of its mystery and unknowns can be very confusing and frightening to the youth of the world.  They might ask themselves, “Why should I even go to school?’   “Why should I plan for the future?”  Our Lady, as the Mother of all her children, addresses these concerns:

“It’s not easy growing up in a world where so many do not love God, but rather love the world.  What you’re gifted with is a life in which you can live in the world to enjoy all of its blessings, and where you are to be a light, a direction, for those who try to confuse others.  It’s not easy!  You are met with confrontations that go against the ways of God; but you have been blessed!  You can make a difference in the way you become a leader of fun—fun, happy times, good times, changing to good from bad.  The only thing I would caution you is in this:  When someone speaks evil and bad, and you know in your heart what it means, do not fight or pay back or support with evil.  Silence is better, and Love is the way.  In your case, a fun way!  Know that you can see a new tomorrow.  (Private OLOE, Sept. 8, 2008)   Pray in your families.  Join together and pray together.  Those who pray together in the family as partners of Love will march triumphantly into the Era of Peace.  Whether you are two or twenty, pray together in your families.”  (Private OLOE, Mar. 9, 2000)

“For where two or three are gathered together in My Name,

there am I in the midst of them.”

(Mt 18:20)

Unfortunately, Our Lady expresses concern that so many of her children do not have that vision of a new tomorrow, far too often because of fear:

“You do not have the vision of tomorrow, for the new tomorrow is great! What vision you should have is one that is hope, peaceful and filled with Love.  If you desire to have that vision, then you must rise to the occasion and be true champions and heroes of God’s Love.  You must wear the banner of His Light and speak the words of His Truth.  You cannot be afraid to face those who would desire to blaspheme God.  You cannot be afraid to speak for the Truth with which God has blessed you, especially here where He has allowed me to come.   You cannot be afraid of change.  You must wear the Truth, believe it with your heart, and trust.”  (Private OLOE, May 30, 2005)

Our Lady likens thistransition” from the new beginning into the new tomorrow to the change in seasons we see in so many parts of the world, but she is saddened by the fact that after all these years, there are only few who are ready to spring up when the Lord comes:

“Look forward to the new tomorrow, and yet persevere in what you have to do today. Do not look back at what happened yesterday, and do not worry about tomorrow.  Just be grateful that you are where you are, and that the future will unfold in God’s Plan.  It is there that you will find the Joy to anticipate the future.…As a new season comes to pass, many look forward to a change.  That is what I request of you.  You know in your hearts that change is coming; but look forward to it as a fresh breath, the brisk flowing air of a new season and a new change.”  (Private OLOE, Sept. 7, 2005)    “No doubt the time is short where things will change, not only for you, but in the world.  Nothing is ending.  You will see a new tomorrow; and even the events here are not ending, but only beginning.” (Private OLOE, Oct. 15, 2008)

“I have invited so many people to come to the forefront to make a new tomorrow….There are many in God’s field; but even now, after the many years of drawing and calling and molding, there are only a few who are ready to spring up when the Lord comes and to say to Him, “Here I am Lord!  I come to do Your Will.”  (Private OLOE, June 23, 2005)   As we move forward in this new era in which my Immaculate Heart shall reign, there is tremendous sorrow to be unveiled. In this unveiling of sorrow will be freedom.  Whether you live or die, it will be till your last breath that you will be able to decide for God….Now is the time to separate and gather the wheat.  The sheep and the goat shall be separated.  Not all shall live.  Not all shall die.  If but one person lives to proclaim God’s glory, then Justice has prevailed.”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 29, 2003)

In this transition into the new tomorrow, there are certain building blocks which are essential; among these are Truth, Love and Peace.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg further defines these:

“How grateful I am to see such faith and hope in people who desire to be committed to the Truth and devoted to my Son….Today is a time of great joy, and yet there are so many people across the entire world so confused and frustrated, as if in a maze trying to find their way out, looking but not knowing where to turn.  So many people are in need of Love, the Love which you have in your hearts.  A new tomorrow begins through this Love, and Peace comes through unity, not by trying to destroy those who do good works.  Pray for my Church, the Church founded on the Rock of Peter, a Church which is in tremendous need of Love…”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 4, 2005)

And to those who have remained devoted to her most Immaculate Heart, Our Lady of Emmitsburg confides:

“Every time you prostrate yourself before God the Father, Son & Holy Spirit, and you implore God’s Mercy with all your genuine love and sincerity, your prayers are heard; and God not only hears your prayers, but will respond.  How blessed you are for all the years that you have been devoted to my most Immaculate Heart!  How blessed are you who have given all of yourself—your body, soul and mind, your emotions and your very being!  This makes you a pillar, formed and imbedded within the very ground of the new tomorrow.”    (Private OLOE, April 25, 2006)   With all the events going on in the world, you strive only to continue to pray for peace and unity; and you desire most wholeheartedly to live the Truth, the Truth that so many people do not understand. But you understand the Truth of God.  This Truth cannot be swayed, for it is the pillar; it is the new tomorrow.  It has withstood the winds and the passing of many, many different eras and different philosophies and faiths; and still the Truth of the Word of God stands firm….If the winds should blow and God desires you to go one way, you will go.  You will respond.  Because you are so much at peace in the midst of so much turmoil, you should know day in and day out that under the veil of God’s Love and His Divine Mercy, you are protected; and a place within His Heart has been saved for you.”   (Private OLOE, May 9, 2005)

Unveiling of Divine Mercy

There are several events that have been shared with Gianna Sullivan by Our Lady of Emmitsburg which are to unfold in this transition to the new tomorrow. Among them are:  the unveiling of Our Lord’s Divine Mercy here at the Center of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart and throughout the world: and the ushering in of an Era of Peace by the Child Jesus Who will reign in a spiritual Eucharistic Reign; and the reigning of the Two Hearts, the Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus and the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumphantly united in the Covenant of the Two Hearts, where all mercy and graces shall abound in tremendous glory.

“I have sent you untiringly all my servants the prophets.

Yet they have not obeyed me nor paid heed;

they have stiffened their necks and done worse than their fathers….

This is the nation that does not listen

to the voice of the Lord, its God, or take correction.

Faithfulness has disappeared;

the word itself is banished from their speech.”

(Jer 7:25-28)

In the previous document, “Fear of the Future: the New Beginning,” much of what has been shared by Our Lord and Our Lady regarding the “illumination of the soul” or the “enlightenment” of conscience was outlined.  It would seem that this “warning” event would be an integral part of this unveiling of Divine Mercy.  About this Our Lady has further shared:

“In this tribulation and time of chaos and confusion, a world where there is much pride and power, and many people who are selfish and looking only at the ways of self, there is so much to unfold because of the lack of prayer and lack of unity and harmony.  Because mankind has decided to make his own abode greater than that of God, he shall be crushed in himself where he shall dwell within the bounds of the earth; and My  Son then shall unveil His Mercy and shall lift up all of those who are united to my Immaculate heart.  Those, who are consecrated to me and to God the Father through my Immaculate Heart, shall rise in glory and be united as one Body.”  ( Private OLOE, Feb. 24, 2003)

“I am sorry to say that I cannot mince words with the Truth because I must dwell within the Truth.  The fact of the matter is that humanity has drifted.  …Because of this there is need for atonement.”  (Private OLOE. Feb. 24, 2003)  “The unveiling of the first phase of my Son’s Divine Mercy in this next era is not a pleasant one….The pain and suffering my Son has given to some is a gift.  But the pain and suffering that I speak about in regards to the world is that of God’s Mercy through His judgment.  With this, Justice shall prevail; and those who have suffered needlessly will be replenished and refreshed.  Those who have inflicted suffering needlessly on those, who  deserve it not, shall reap what they themselves have given….However even those, who try to deceive and hurt, are children of God whom He still loves and whom I desire to bring to Him.”  (Private OLOE, May 12, 2003)

Over many years Our Lady of Emmitsburg has revealed to the world much about the corruption, the illnesses, the disasters and the chaos which are to follow if mankind does not return back to God:

“There is much to unfold, and in that there shall be an unveiling of God’s Mercy.  In His Mercy you shall see everything that I have foretold to my prophet….You shall see that everything that I have said about crime, about AIDS, about turmoil and natural disasters, about catastrophic events, and about Life itself; yes, you shall see that everything that I have said will have surfaced.”  (Private OLOE, March 16, 2003)  “This is a time period when humanity will come to know that the world is run not by the ordinary people who think they have freedom within this world.  There are simply a few people who run the economic and the religious systems of the world.  The economic, religious, political and the monetary systems of the world are under the control of a few people.  So in many areas the world’s people think they are free, but they are not.  It is time now for Satan to be put into the dungeon where he will be held in bondage so that my Immaculate Heart can free all my children and allow all to come to their Savior in innocence and purity.  The deceitfulness and slander of the world is about to be exposed, at a price of course, a great battle.”  (Private OLOE, May 16, 2003)

“I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish.”

 (Lk 13:3)

Our Lady also expresses her regret that the new tomorrow has yet to arrive:

“The hope for a new tomorrow is certainly there.  What I told you once, I shall tell you again.  My Son would have come far sooner than now, but it has been because of sin and because of the blasphemy against Him and the refusal of His graces that He has allowed humanity not to rise to the level to see the new beginning.”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 15, 2003)   “My prayer continues to be with my Church….It was my hope that things would have been unveiled sooner; but because of free will there has been a delay, not so much in the works of the Plan as much as in the process.  The Plan continues and works through other channels, only building up for a more glorious event.”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 15, 2004)

Throughout this entire series of prophetic events related to the world by Our Lady of Emmitsburg, there remains this unique mystery of the role of the little town of Emmitsburg itself, the small town that Our Lady has designated as the “Center of her Immaculate Heart.”  From time to time, Our Lady has touched on this, but likewise has not entirely lifted the veil:

“What results from the unveiling of His Mercy will be glorious, and it will involve the Eucharistic Reign moving to the forefront.  But initially this community will need to be one of purity and joy and peace before His Divine Mercy can commence here.  It will involve everyone who has chosen to walk away from Him or be indifferent, and those who have been fearful.  But eventually glorious works and Peace shall come.  A new springtime of grace and hope shall arise.”  (Private OLOE. Sept 22, 2003)   “My Son will not allow the sword to pierce my Heart much longer because the world must know that this is the ‘Center of my Immaculate Heart.’  It is not simply a temporary place for people to come, but the place which my Son has blessed me to select for the whole world.  Just as my Son could not contain Himself from coming into the world from Heaven above, so too He cannot contain Himself from unveiling His Divine Mercy.”  (Private OLOE, Oct. 22, 2003)  “As you have trusted in my Son, I can tell you that just as gold has been tested and purified in fire, so too you have been tested and purified.  Now you are entrusted with the task of fulfilling the means, the way, the hope and the communication path in welcoming all here to the Truth of the Center of my Immaculate Heart, to the Truth of the unveiling of my Son’s Divine Mercy, and to the Truth of the value of littleness and dedication in the fulfillment of God the Father’s Word and His Divine Will.  (Private OLOE, Apr. 26, 2005)   “Be at peace.  Trust, and look now to the unveiling of my Son’s Divine Mercy, to the unveiling of the Truth, and also to the ratification of all prophets.”  (Private OLOE, April 6, 2005)

“But you, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah,

from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel;

Whose origin is from of old, from ancient times.”

(Mic 5:1)
