Introduction

Webster’s Dictionary defines “perseverance” as the act of continuing in some effort or course of action in spite of difficulty and/or opposition. The Catholic Online Dictionary places a much more specific and spiritual connotation on the definition as “the act of remaining in the state of grace until the end of life. The Church teaches that it is impossible, without the special help of God, to persevere in the state of grace to the end….Final perseverance cannot be strictly merited, as though a person had a claim on dying in grace because he or she had been faithful all through life. Nevertheless it can, with unfailing success, be achieved by proper prayer, offered regularly and earnestly, in the state of grace.”

Throughout the Words of God the Father, the Lessons of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Messages of Our Lady of Emmitsburg—all given to the world through Gianna Talone Sullivan—there are two other words, “endurance” and “persistence,” that  are often used in conjunction with perseverance, or alone with slightly different nuances.  Endurance can be defined as the act of remaining firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding in spite of difficulty; and persistence as the quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people and occurs beyond the usual or expected time frame

It seems that we live in an era where these three qualities are of some value toward success in the eyes of the secular world, but often forgotten when visualized through the spiritual eyes of faith.  More often than not, the modern man and woman are looking for a “quick fix,” immediate gratification and God’s prompt and specific response to any of their prayers.  Unfortunately, that is not the usual way to progress on one’s spiritual journey, but rather with perseverance, endurance and persistence.

Prayer of St. Bonaventure for Perseverance

Pierce, O most sweet Lord Jesus, my inmost soul with the most joyous and healthful wound of Thy love, and with true, calm and most holy apostolic charity, that my soul may ever languish and melt with entire love and longing for Thee, may yearn for Thee and for thy courts, may long to be dissolved and to be with Thee.

Grant that my soul may hunger after Thee, the Bread of Angels, the refreshment of holy souls, our daily and super substantial bread, having all sweetness and savor and every delightful taste.

May my heart ever hunger after and feed upon Thee, Whom the angels desire to look upon, and may my inmost soul be filled with the sweetness of Thy savor; may it ever thirst for Thee, the fountain of life, the fountain of wisdom and knowledge, the fountain of eternal light, the torrent of pleasure, the fullness of the house of God; may it ever compass Thee, seek Thee, find Thee, run to Thee, come up to Thee, meditate on Thee, speak of Thee, and do all for the praise and glory of Thy name, with humility and discretion, with love and delight, with ease and affection, with perseverance to the end; and be Thou alone ever my hope, my entire confidence, my riches, my delight, my pleasure, my joy, my rest and tranquility, my peace, my sweetness, my food, my refreshment, my refuge, my help, my wisdom, my portion, my possession, my treasure; in Whom may my mind and my heart be ever fixed and firm and rooted immovably. Amen.
(St. Bonaventure, Italian Franciscan Bishop and Doctor of the Church, 1221-1274)

“…Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely,

and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us….”

(Heb 12:1)

The Perseverance of the Father

The Perseverance of the Son

The Perseverance of the Spouse of the Holy Spirit

The Battle

The Opening

“…When He entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil, asking, “Who is this?”

The crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.”

(Mt 21:10-11)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg minces no words when she defines the world’s turmoil, the invitation to join her in this plan, and what will be required of the faithful in dealing with those misguided in the Truth and the faith, both in the secular world and in Mother Church:

“…The world is in tremendous turmoil.  No one truly realizes the depth and the breadth, the severity and the intensity (of the turmoil), and the seriousness of those who hate humanity and would prefer to see destruction.  You are called to be the Light of love, pillars of patience, passion, and perseverance, and the fort of fortitude….”  (Private OLOE, Oct. 21, 2007)

“…Yet, in this turmoil, in the midst of it, many people continue to live their lives in the ‘status quo.’  What I am suggesting is that this the time of renewal about which I have been forewarning for several years.  This is the time about which I have previously spoken to my children, ‘Look to a time; and when that time comes and nothing happens, do not turn away, but persevere and move forward.’  That time came.  Many initially persevered; but when the hour did not come to their liking, they turned away.  Even yet, many are thinking now of turning away.  Only God the Father knows the time, but all must be strong and persevere….Stand firm, and move forward when the Holy Spirit prompts you.  Do not doubt!  You can change the way, and this way right now has to deal with Mother Church, because there are so many people involved—both priests and those who are secular—who do not want to hear the words of Truth….All will be revealed with your help….I most whole heartedly pray for you that you will stand firm and not walk away like so many have….”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 13, 2007)

“…Therefore, take up the full armor of God,

so that you will be able to resist in the evil day,

and having done everything, to stand firm….”

(Eph 6:13)

The Perseverance of the Father

“…And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent to them

by the hand of His messengers, rising early and daily admonishing them:

because He spared His people and His dwelling place…”

(2 Chron 36:15)

We may not often think of these virtues and attributes when pondering our Creator in His Godhead; however; He would rather have us ponder Him in the perfect but yet human qualities of any good and loving ‘father.’  He invokes our response to Him to be like that of a child to his own loving father; however, in this relationship the stakes are much higher, and if we choose to shun our Eternal Father, He warns us that our rewards will be short-lived:

“…As a gracious God, I love you with a Love no parent or human being could endure….I am here with you, inviting you in a special way to pray with your heart and to be strong enough to move forward without fear….

“So many are afraid of the Father.  They have no idea how gracious a ‘father’ is:  his love, his perseverance, his patience, his endurance, his fortitude, his own fear of God, his piety and his righteousness.  A father is one who gives at all times, at every moment, unconditionally and without exception.…When the time comes where there is chaos and hardships, how can you run to a Father looking for advice if you have not listened or put into practice the advice He has given you before?….

“There are two lives, a life in Me and a life as you live in the world.  Choose one!  You can live in the world and still belong to Me; and if you do that, you will still be prepared.  But if you do not pay heed to Me, and you live your life without Me, then that is the graciousness of the reward of life you get.  The payment due will be forthcoming.  Your choice:  one life!”    (GTF, July 8, 2008)

No one knows the Father as does the Son; and it is through the persisting Love of the Father and the intercession of Our Lady that Our Lord has come to share with the world these grace-filled Lessons.  Jesus so wants the world to know His Father, and that must certainly compound His agony to see His Father both unknown and rejected:

“…These Lessons are yours, and yours to share.  I will continue to teach you as long as you will allow Me by accepting and living My words.  When My Father no longer permits Me, I will not be able to share with you the treasured pathway to entering My Father’s House….I love you as My Father loves you.  Know that is it because of My advocate, My Mother, and My Father’s persisting Love that I come humbly to you….”  (JOM, Vol I, #83, Sept 10, 1989, Your Jesus of Mercy)

“…I wish for all My people to know that in the imperfection of their humanity, they are made perfect in the eyes of God, should they seek it in all goodness….I wish for my people to know My Father, Who lives within their hearts and their thoughts.  He will grant you strength to persevere and wisdom in His eyes.  He will comfort you, not harm you!  He will cradle you like a newborn babe.  He will not enslave you, but give you everlasting freedom, for which your souls desire and plead….”  (JOM, Vol II, #17, Nov. 1, 1989, The Living God)

So often in the secular world we have been told that with hard work, determination, and possibly a little luck, we can be anything we want to be.   That cliché may be inspirational to some, but is very incomplete in terms of reality.  Without God’s Love and His grace, we would be nothing! Our Lady of Emmitsburg reminds us of those living waters which, when combined with some of our human virtues, then allow us to become what God created us to be and in some way, however large or small that may be, to make a difference and to transform the world:

“…The Father is the Living Water of Grace.  Persevere in this mortal life, and know that my Son is the means of Divine union with human nature.  He is your victory in the life of everlasting glory.  Persevere, for perseverance receives the crown of glory.  All you who thirst, come to the living waters….You must have thirst to receive the holy virtues which lead to the state of perfection of Love.  You must desire to drink the water of everlasting grace in order to persevere.  If you do not thirst for the living waters, you will not be able to be a vessel of Love….”  (Public OLOE, April 6, 1995)

“…God’s Love (in you) allows you to attain different levels of virtue and the strength and perseverance, the endurance and fortitude, the meekness and kindness to carry on….  (Then) it’s the love that you give; and this love, which is immeasurable, can transform the whole world….You have made a difference in the world, but what is to come will really make a triumphant and glorious difference for God.  So do not allow any temptation, distraction, irritability, anxiousness, sadness, rebuke, or any defilement against you to take over your heart.  There is my Son, most adorable as the Christ Child.  Adore Him, and there you are safe….”    (Private OLOE, Dec. 21, 2009)

“…For you have been born again,

not of perishable seed, but of imperishable,

through the living and enduring word of God…..”

(1 Pet 1:23)

The Perseverance of the Son

“…We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith.

He saw the joy ahead of Him, so He endured death on the cross

and ignored the disgrace it brought Him.

Then He received the highest position in heaven,

the one next to the throne of God….”

(Heb 12:2)

Our Father in Heaven, from Whom all life pours forth, rejoices in His Plan for all humanity, its salvation and redemption, but at what cost?  At the cost of the hideous torture of His only begotten Son!  Yet, there will be those who mock as well as those who will listen and respond; however, for those who wait until the last moment…what end will await them?

“…The day of creation was a blessed one indeed!  The day of your salvation was blessed indeed!  The day of your invitation is blessed and ongoing.  The day of Life is now to be had, not that you die and are resuscitated; but it is through the death My Son endured that was salvific, redemptive, real, and eternal so that He would die no more….

“…You have every port of glory at your fingertips if you but know how to access, retrieve utilize and submit.  In all of your passion and suffering, even unto death, you are renewed in Life, not in words but in Truth.  Can you not see how special and savored by Heaven you are?…Or, if you do not desire that, then the floodgates of the human natural world will pour forth and overtake you; and there, at the mercy of nature, you will have the same opportunity to drown in another world….:”  (GTF, April 8, 2008)

“…At what cost I would give a Life for your life!  At what cost would you give a life for Life?  Do you not understand the depth and breadth of the most hideous torture My Son endured for you?  O’ yes, as a human being, Divine and free of sin!  But He took it upon Himself for your freedom….What if My Son had died and did not rise?  There would be no hope for you.  Every breath and word of praise whispered from your lips should give honor and glory to the Son of Man Who gave His Life to die for you so that you could rise with Him!  For He had to descend only to ascend; and because of this, now when you die, you are able to ascend….

“…No one knows the time.  Many may mock my Words, for no one desires to know the Truth before them.  There will be those who will desire it, as in ages past, who will see it unfold; and they will be the glorious ones to rejoice because they listened, responded and gave praise for Life!  To the few who live through this next season of events:  Place the Seal of the Cross on your heart.  Protect your self and do not listen to anyone but God….

“I am there for those who want Me and who have listened along the Way.  But for those who at the last moment cry out to their God, perhaps….

And that is the end of the story….”

(GTF, May 8, 2008)

Our Lord Himself in His Lessons to the world describes what He endured for humanity and why He endured it.  In what seems to be a play on words, He uses the word “endure” to describe not only the pain and suffering He experienced when He walked the earth as well as what He now experiences in sharing our pain and suffering, but He also attributes His desire and ability to save humanity to His “enduring” Love and Mercy.  It is as if He needs the wretched sinners of humanity to fully manifest His Love and Mercy.  And He pleads that we all humbly obey His Father as He humbly obeyed His Father.  His Breath of Life gives each of us the strength to persevere in the most hopeless situations, only to reap the most promising victories:

“…When I carried My Cross, I carried it to restore your goodness and to give to all the opportunity to have eternal life!....The pain I endured while carrying My Cross was intense, because I was restoring goodness and paving the path to eternal happiness….”  (JOM, Vol I, #52, April 23, 1989, The Cross)

“…I wish My people to know that I am with them through their mortal life and after.  I weep with them and endure the brunt of their major pain for them.  That is what life in the material world causes—pain!...”  (JOM, Vol II, #15, Oct. 28, 1989, The Presence Of Jesus)

“…I speak to My people through you (Gianna), a wretched sinner, because My Mercy endures forever.  It is My Love that molds and softens the hardest of hearts.  If My Love for you is great, how much more would I give to My people.  My Heart has been pierced, for the pain of Love for My people still exists….”  (JOM, Vol IV, #27. July 8, 1992, True Freedom)

“…Only those who willingly condemn my Love through their last breath condemn their own souls.  My Love is enduring and saves up until your last breath.  Therefore, My beloved, begin to love at home, and it will be easier to love the outside.  The more you love your family and those you meet in your life, the more deep will be your love for Me….”  (JOM, Vol IV, #33, July 19, 1992, The Poor)

“…You have offended Me many times, and My Love still endures.  It is so you know Who God is.  It is so you will surrender to the subjections of others for My sake, and so that you will overcome your pride in My humility….You are dust; and yet, because I spared you through My Death, your soul is precious….Those who are wise know better to humble themselves in My humility and do not extol themselves.  Overcome, then, and you will be submissive in obedience to the one Superior, My Father!...” (JOM, Vol IV, #43, July 29, 1992, The Only Way)

“….Tell My people this, and urge all to commence sincere loving and restoration of dignity and honesty now!  I no longer want your ‘’words.’  I want your hearts of purity….I will no longer endure your behavior any further. Listen to those I send….Listen and change your ways to walk the path of purity….”  (JOM, Vol IV, #82, August 17, 1992, Your Future)

“…Evil influences and weaknesses of the flesh continually crash as waves on the soul to distract and persuade it that I am a vengeful God.  The fact and truth is that I am merciful, forgiving, compassionate and understanding….The opportunity is there for My beloved ones to utilize.  This opportunity is within their reach and it entails a humbling of the inner self, accepting their weaknesses and turning to Me in confidence and trust for strength and mercy.  The soul is revived and the Breath of Life gains for them the strength to persevere….This gives God great glory when the soul recognizes that alone it merits nothing, but through God merits eternal life….I am waiting for My beloved people to allow Me to be Who I am, for I cannot change to meet their needs or change to their liking….I desire them to remove themselves and to trust that My Mercy will prevail and that ultimately great works of goodness will surface….I am a God of trust and I can be trusted with the most hopeless situations, only to reap the most promising victories….Come, draw near.  I am your Jesus of Mercy….”   (JOM, Vol V, #23, Oct. 6, 1995,  The Breadth and depth of My Love)

“…But we trust in the Almighty God,

Who is able with a single nod to strike down those who are coming against us,

and even, if necessary, the whole world….”

(2 Mac 8:18)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg recalls the journey of her beloved Son and the suffering it involved from His Birth, through His Childhood and Public Life, and finally in His Passion and Death—all for each of us and for our salvation and to provide meaning and redemptive value to our pain and suffering when joined to His:

“…The Child Jesus renewed the world in the hope of God’s Truth with the invitation for all people to live in purity and innocence without self-seeking ways or the ways of malice, hatred and violence.  Through His submission to the Will of the Father, the Crucified Savior became your redemption from death.  Through Him alone can you have eternal life.  It was my Son, the Child Jesus, Who gave life in this world to you, and my Son, the Crucified Jesus Who gave eternal life to you….(Public OLOE, Sept. 14, 2002)

“…Can you imagine what it would be like without Life, living in sin without having any hope for a new tomorrow and without being able to be in Heaven rejoicing with all the angels and saints?  Can you imagine all the suffering my Son endured?  Contemplate the Passion, and you will see that no suffering will ever be as was my Son’s for humanity.  Most importantly, try to imagine just His act of humility in coming into this world.  Humanity will never really and truly understand the mystery of God’s Love.  But all are called to it; and I am determined to beg and plead before God the Father, not only on your behalf, but on behalf of the entire world, so that all can know the Truth and be invited to live the same life, a Life of Love….”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 12, 2005)

”His Most Sacred Heart from which He shed blood was pierced and torn.  The bleeding that had begun at His Birth and His Circumcision, and had persisted with the cruelties that were bestowed upon Him throughout His Life….”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 21, 2003)

“…My Son was well-known, loved and praised.  He was a great prophet.  He was the Son of the Living God; and in the next moment He was hated, beaten, spat upon and blasphemed; and then He brutally endured a crucifixion given to the worst of criminals….”  (Private OLOE, Sept. 14, 2009)

“…He has great plans for those who persevere and remain faithful to His words of Truth.  All those who are weary and sick can rest in Him and be comforted and healed….Look to Him to fill all your needs, to fill your emptiness with joy, and to heal your suffering hearts.  He is the Godhead Who suffered for you.  He bore the suffering of the flesh so that you would be comforted.  He shed tears for you and endured bitter scoffing, abandonment and terrible agony for you.  He labored and died poor for your salvation….Ponder the reality of His walk of life, and how He was despised for speaking the Truth, and the consequences He endured for love of you.…He is your Counselor, your Healer, and your comforter, He is Eternal Life….”  (Public OLOE, Dec. 18, 1997)

“…When you think about what my Son endured and how many people truly in their fury hated Him, you can see and understand much of His reactions.  He had a righteous anger at times when He was indignant because of what they did to God’s Holy Temple….They also thought he was crazy.  They thought He was ‘of ‘ the devil….The people were furious and wanted to kill Him…The slander, the gossip, the calumny, the malice, the judgment and the rejection, most painful indeed! …That is what my Son endured, far much more than is humanly possible….He was literally killed in His Body, and He suffered the tremendous pain of rejection….”  (Private OLOE, Mar. 14, 2008)

“…The sword that pierces your heart, remember that it pierced mine first; so your pain is softened because I first have taken the brunt of it.  As I carried my Son in His Passion, I also felt His pain to give Him the strength to persevere.  They rejected my Son and persecuted Him more than the world will ever know and realize and come to understand.  Rejection is very difficult because all people want to be loved; and that is why the world is in so much turmoil today, because of the lack of love….”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 18, 2006)

“…I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection

and the sharing of His sufferings by becoming like Him in His death,

if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead….”

(Phil 3:10-11)

OLOE

“…I know all the suffering you go through….All that you are suffering will come to an end, and you will understand why it had to be.  No one will ever understand the level of suffering, which you, immersed with Jesus, have endured….You will see at some point, perhaps not now, what good you have done because you have responded to God in your ‘fiat,’ and what good you will do.  When it comes to suffering, it is very personal.  What you do with your suffering and how you offer it and unite it with my Son make the difference….”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 6, 2008)

“…There has been much pain and sorrow that I have endured for so long.  There has been even much greater pain and sorrow that my Son has endured.  Yet, there is so much Hope because of the Love that we bear for our children….I am guiding you, guarding you, directing you and leading you to only one point, that being to the Throne of the Kingdom, to which I am pleased to carry in the Name of my Son the pain which you have to endure, but which is redemptive….”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 20, 2004)

“…Each person carries his/her own cross for his/her own sanctification, holiness and freedom.  Some have crosses heavier than others.  Some believe they do not have any cross.  But the cross, in a beautiful way, links every child, from the creation of time, to the Holy Trinity.  My Son’s abandonment on the Cross will never be yours, for my Son endured it once and for all of you….”  (Private OLOE, June 10, 2006)

“…Remember how good and kind He is and all the persecution and humiliations He endured, all the abuse and unkindness; and yet, He forgave so that we could be redeemed in His Love and forgiveness.  Each day you are always invited to grow in that same Love and kindness and to take a deep breath of hope so that you can forgive….”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 10, 2011)

“...And there is no suffering you can ever endure like that which my Son endured for you…. As I have said before: God did not need me; He chose me.  And God does not need you; but He has chosen you, and He desires you to be one with Him.  In all humility, in regards to that sacrificial Love He gave for you, you need to pray and ponder what that Love truly means in your life and what you will give to my Son….”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 29, 2009)

“…I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake,

and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions

for the sake of his body, that is, the Church….”

(Col 1:24)

The Perseverance of the Spouse of the Holy Spirit

“…Standing by the cross of Jesus was His mother….

When Jesus say His mother and the disciple there whom He loved,

He said to His mother, ‘Woman, behold your son.’

Then He said to the disciple, ‘Behold your mother.’

And from that hour the disciple took her into is home….”

(John 19: 25-27)

God the Father in His Words to the world describes the most precious and immaculate soul in all His creation.  This beautiful child would bear in her womb His Beloved Son, and then bear also all His sufferings on earth, just as she bears the brunt of the sufferings of all her spiritual children.  The suffering of the Mother and Son did not end with their physical death, but will continue until the Truth is made known and all are brought home to the Father:

“…Time was created….Tremendous hardship unveiled; and as it unfolded, a most precious soul was created, a soul created Immaculate….This soul’s ‘fiat’ came into the world….This woman deemed Immaculate and pure gave a ‘fiat’ of her own free will to live for all people for one purpose, that being to present to the world the Truth of God.  Within her womb Immaculately came the Truth.

“As any little child, He grew; and this Immaculate woman had to endure many sorrows, and yet many joys….The child was condemned, persecuted, tormented, ridiculed and rejected; and this woman, she too was condemned, persecuted, ridiculed and rejected….Perhaps you should look to this woman who first bears the brunt of all your pain, as she did for my most beloved Son….He accepted to come into this world as a human being, and she encouraged Him and bore His pain….She will continue to lay her life down unto death for you, only that you man know fully the Truth of God, my Son, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, born through her womb.  The Truth has to be made known…” (GTF, Mar 8, 2006)

Seeing and feeling the sense of being “worn out” in so many of her faithful children who are struggling to discern what God desires for them, Our Lady of Emmitsburg shares a glimpse of the suffering and uncertainty she endured along with her Son and how she dealt with it, the loneliness that accompanied it, and how she has since shared in the suffering of all her children, interceding and even bearing the brunt of it, out of Love.  This she has done not in a spirit of frustration and despair, but rather joyfully with the conviction of hope and trust.  And she continuously expresses her commitment to not leaving, but rather staying with her children to help save every one of them.  In this lies the mystery of the Cross:

“…Evil must be weeded out; and even though it now seems that you are the ones ‘not’ of my Son, things shall only turn around and reveal what is the Truth and from whom the influence of the spirit other than my Son stems.  So do not be sad but be joyful, because this is the way to reveal the Truth.  All my life I endured pain.  My Son endured humiliation, persecution and ridicule.  However, at the end things turned on those who were truly the ones that labeled Him ‘evil.’  He was pure, and those who condemned Him were the ones who carried the spirit of death….”   (Private OLOE, July 7, 2003)

“…It is difficult to be a Mother, to present a child unconditionally to God.  It was difficult for me in knowing what I knew.  But I can assure you that if as each day goes by you continue to give your children to God, presenting them for the greater glory of God in their weakness, in both good health and bad health, or in whatever, they will always be safe….I cannot make people change, but I can pray for them.  I can intercede for them; and through the grace God has given me, I can give them the strength to pray, to endure and persevere, and to follow through with what God desires of them….”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 2, 2010)

“…My Son’s suffering and death were not something that just happened and should be forgotten.  The suffering that I endured along with His is something that should not be forgotten.  It is real because it is for you.  This is why I pray for you and invite you not to be lax in your ways and your daily prayer….Please ponder the Truth, the meaning of my words, and how you can make a difference and can change tomorrow….”  (Private OLOE, Mar. 28, 2005)

“…Do not be afraid.  Persevere in love and peace.  Join me in prayer for unity and peace.  I am a Mother who has shared the pain of the Cross and accepted this suffering which shadowed over me as I stood beneath My Son nailed on the Cross.  I am close to you.  Jesus is close to you..  I live in Him.  You live in Him also…..Do not look for your suffering and sorrow as the end, but see through eyes of faith its redemptive value and hope for you…” (Public OLOE, Dec. 30, 1999)

“…If you knew the incredible sorrow in being at the Foot of my Sons Cross—His torment and the grief and the pain I endured along with Him; if you knew the depth of this, you would  not be able to bear it.  It truly was horrific!  After His death, my life was very much one of being alone….I am with you in your torments and suffering and sorrow, but the day will come when you will also see the glory of God, when you trust Him and love….”  (Private OLOE, Sept. 15, 2008) “…As your Mother, the Mother of God—your God—I am here to say that through His suffering and your suffering which I have endured for you:

I am not leaving, because I am here to save this country!

(Private OLOE, Sept. 17, 2009)

“…Through my most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, I have oftentimes taken your sorrow and your pain.  Whatever you have endured was first blunted by me, just as I did for my Son, because of Love.  That is what Love is!  You are everything to me, but you are more than that.  You are everything to the Holy Trinity:  the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; and there you will dwell….”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 10, 2010)

“…There has been much pain and sorrow that I have endured for so long.  There has been even much greater pain and sorrow that my Son has endured.  Yet, there is so much Hope because of the Love that we bear for our children….Each of your personal lives and everything that you are enduring are embedded in my most Immaculate Heart….”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 20, 2004)

“…Most importantly, you have to continue through the grace of my Son and the grace of God the Father to use wisdom and to be vigilant and prudent.  Then the suffering that you endure will become a glorious moment, even though it does not last as long as the suffering that my Son and I endured….”    (Private OLOE, May 9, 2006)

“…Often many people question, ‘Why do the insignificant endure such trouble?’ (as if you had more power and influence in the world, you would be able to do more for God)….This is the mystery, the mystery of the Cross.  It is not for the human mind to comprehend, for it involves the faithfulness and the Love that transforms death to Life…..”  (Private OLOE, May 9, 2006)

“…And through Christ,

God has brought all things back to Himself again—

things on earth and things in heaven.

God made peace through the Blood of Christ’s death on the Cross….”

(Col 1:20)

“We must all reach out in love, in strength and perseverance, in fortitude and courage and persistence, and in thanksgiving to God for allowing you and me to continue to invite all people here to the Center of my Immaculate Heart….”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 1, 2004) “…Persevere and be strong!  I am here with you, never to leave unless you desire me to be gone….”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 26, 2007)

And Mary said,

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

for He has looked with favor on the lowliness of His servant.
    From this day forward all generations will call me blessed;
for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
    and holy is His Name….”
(Lk 1:56-59)

The Battle Continues

“…These are demonic spirits, performing signs,

who go abroad to the kings of the whole world,

to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty….”

(Rev 16:14)

Following creation, a battle between good and evil first raged in the Heavens, and then spilled over into the Garden of Eden.  For several millennia it has continued here on earth; and if the prophecies concerning this “end of the era” in which we are now living are accurate, Our Lord now shares with us in His Lessons that this battle is about to become more intense than ever before and than we could ever imagine:

“….During this period of tribulation, crime, war and struggle I ask My people to be ‘Warriors of Christ.’  Put on your armor of My Love and the Seal of the Cross to fight for purity and goodness; and your sword will be the sword of love….

“…My people, these times are times in which the evil one has asked My Father to be allowed to rule.  It is a time granted by My Father, because the evil one has believed that you will follow his way, instead of desiring the Truth and Light of My Father.  My Father granted him a very short period in which His people would have, once again, the choice of following the way of the world over the Way of Him.  I ask you to persevere and to be strong soldiers. This war is not a war of people, but a war in the Heavens…; but you are all subject to its effect, because Satan wants you as victims….Now in this time period of much interior and exterior struggle, there is hope, because I am here with you.  But you have free will.  You decide….”  (JOM, Vol IV, #90, Nov. 1, 1992, War In The Heavens)

“…The battle in the Heavens continues.  Spirits of evil are trying to confuse and distract My beloved ones.  All people can be subject unless they pray fervently, center on Me, and utilize prudence and discernment.  Test the spirits….Any confusion will dissipate with patient endurance and fervent prayer….”  (JOM, Vol V, #20, Sept. 13, 1995, The Gifts of Prudence and Discernment)

“…The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much….”

(James 5:16)

For many years Our Lady here in Emmitsburg and around the world has set the stage for this final battle.  She does not minimize the work and effort it will take on the part of all her children to assist her Son in His Plan—a Plan that will be carried out with Our Lord and Our Lady alongside what may be only a few, but a few faithful ones who stand firm and proceed forward in prayer with the perseverance, the endurance and the Love of Our Lord and His Immaculate Mother:

“…There is much work that needs to be done in the harvest of Love.  I need an army who will face challenges with Love and fidelity to God, and who will surrender in faithfulness to Him.  The battle against Truth strikes, but the power of persistence, perseverance and Love results in victory, freedom and Peace….”  (Public OLOE, Dec. 8, 1994)

“…The battle continues to build in the Heavens, and soon the forces of evil will afflict the world.  Build up your forces by putting on your armor of Love, perseverance and patience.  Pray that you will be able to endure what is to come….”  (Public OLOE, July 25, 1996)

“…This world, dangerous as it is, will continue to even be more dangerous….You do not know that you are being manipulated and guided….by a few people who are in charge of the economic well-being and affairs of the world, not just this country.  As things continue to surface and intensify with tensions in both political and religious affairs, you will see evil at its greatest….Only those who are meek and humble of heart will be able to persevere.  The battle is beginning, but so too the unveiling of my Son’s Divine Mercy….”  (Private OLOE, April 20, 2003)

“… So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives,

and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts,

for it has the power to save your souls….”

(James 1:21)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg reminds us that what has occurred in the past did not necessarily have to happen as it has.  Remember:  God does not need us, but rather wants us.  Thus, it is only because of His infinite Love for us and His desire to share eternity with us that we are even in the picture:

“…What would the world be if my Son had given up?  What would the world be if He had not been compassionate and bold, if He had not persevered with fortitude?  He fought the fight….You also must be bold and brave; and you must have the courage, the compassion and the love to more forward valiantly, confidently and with all humility.  With the fear of God in your hearts, you shall win the battle with me at your side.  It shall be my Son who leads you and wins alongside you….”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 23, 2003)

“…My Son has a Plan….You have been gracious enough to accept it and be part of it….to be carriers of His Holy Name and His Good Message….However, there is a time that is forthcoming when you must defend His Holy Name and my territory here at the Center of my Immaculate Heart….So God gives you His grace.  He invites you to defend Us and to be His  mouthpieces.…

“…It does not take many people.  It only takes a few for the world to know about the great hope and change….I shall not leave you; but put on your armor because the battle is now beginning, and you must defend my most Immaculate Heart, not in other countries, but in your own….”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 21, 2003)

“…Please let our petition come before you,

and pray for us to the Lord your God, that is for all this remnant;

because we are left but a few out of many, as your own eyes now see us….”

(Jer 42:2)
