“…Be humble servants of the Light of God.

Be honest and kind,

not bearing false witness against your brothers….”

(Public OLOE, Aug. 3, 2008)

Any discussion about honesty and integrity would by necessity demand a common understanding of the principles of “truth.”  In the Article on the 8th Commandment (of God’s Ten Commandments) in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we read:  “The Eighth Commandment forbids misrepresenting the truth in our relations with others.  This moral prescription flows from the vocation of the holy people to bear witness to their God who is the Truth and wills the truth.  Offenses against truth express by word or deed a refusal to commit oneself to moral uprightness. They are fundamental infidelities to God and, in this sense, they undermine the foundations of our covenant with God.”  (CCC 2464)

In the 2nd Part of this series, we reviewed the sinfulness of humanity and how dishonesty and deceitfulness are so embedded in that human nature.  Now, in this 3rd Part of the Series on Honesty and Integrity, we will explore the Mercy of God, the dignity in being a child of God, and Our Lady’s role as the model of virtue.

Although we may all have heard it preached and been taught that there is no sin so great that it cannot be engulfed in God’s Mercy, no sinner who was not created to spend eternity with God, no heart so hardened that it cannot be entwined with the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus if true remorse and change are desired, still so many remain blind and resistant to coming home to the Father.  Why is that?

For many, there seem to be great obstacles placed before their childlike spirits—obstacles such as embarrassment, humiliation and shame, all deeply rooted in human pride.  Our Lord in His Lessons to the world through Gianna Talone Sullivan calls humanity to a restoration and offers a most direct route:

God’s Mercy

“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice!

Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.

And the God of love and peace will be with you.”

(2Cor 13:11)

“…My people think they know what love is, but they do not embrace the love because they do not love themselves.  The underlying cause is shame….What is shame?  When the soul is created, it is created good in the light of truth, and purity exists.  Man, through the venomous poison of judgment and resentfulness, places guile and charges a victim, placing despair and embarrassment through humiliation upon the soul.  The soul flees to safety, masking its charges, whether guilty or innocent, by avoiding the accusation and placing reason on another issue or even charging another person of some guilt.  The soul is revealed without compassion or love and is buried deep, and insult topples injury; and the soul cannot love because it is faced with humiliation from lack of acceptance from mankind….Shame comes from values instilled in man by man, instead of loving.  Shame leads to chemical dependency, abuse and self-destruction because of self-humiliation, lack of acceptance, lack of love and embarrassment.  I call all of mankind to restore the components of love, mercy, compassion, respect, dignity and honesty….”  (JOM, Vol IV, #7, Nov. 3, 1991, Shame)

For many years at multiple apparition sites and/or through the locutions of many mystics and visionaries, it has been noted that we are living in a time of God’s Mercy, but that there will come a time when God’s Justice will become most manifest through His direct intervention in the affairs of mankind.  It would certainly appear that the world is growing quite close to that time of God’s Justice in spite of Our Lady of Emmitsburg’s persistent pleas for His Mercy:

“..Do not be hard on yourself because of your sinfulness….Reform your ways through purity, chastity, honesty, loving each other in charity and through prayer.  God makes the truth of your sinfulness known because He loves you and desires you to come to Him.  But you must have mercy on yourself and forgive yourself so God can forgive you and make you whole in His Love.  Always choose to live a life free from sin and to love as Jesus is Love….”  (Public OLOE, April 20, 1995)

“…It is very important that you do not spurn or reject God’s Mercy.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will enlighten you so that you will be able to be honest children and see the Truth of God’s Mercy.  There are so many people who are blind to God’s Truth because of the pain of loneliness and lack of love in their lives.  They hide from their sorrow by taking drugs of all sorts, such as narcotics and alcohol, and deny the receipt of God’s Mercy.  Many people are dishonest and deceitful, yet Jesus loves them and desires them to receive His Mercy….”  (Public OLOE, July 1, 1999)

“…This is a time of Mercy; and yet, a time of rejuvenation, enlightenment and change.  You have suffered tremendously, and you have borne all with patience….Much is to change now.  Keep praying with prayers of gratitude, and keep imploring protection and living the Truth, the Truth of God which is with you:  honesty, childlike ways, dedication, simplicity, littleness, and wholesome acts of humility….”  (Private OLOE, Sept. 27, 2004)

       “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;

the decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple.”

(Ps 19:7)

However, life in our world has moved away from these very simple characteristics which promise a different kind of world—a world of Peace.  Our Lord’s wish for simplicity has been almost totally rejected for a world of complexity, and that complexity, for the most part, leaves little or no time for God in the lives of so many of His children.  Our Lord in His Lessons assures us that He wants to enter our lives, but that can happen most naturally in the simplicity and purity of the life He designed and wishes for each of us:

“…I wish for My people to have simplicity….It is a state of quality of both purity and naturalness….It is a lack of complexity…. Simplicity and poverty are not one and the same….I am not calling my people to ignorance…..I am calling my people to knowledge and to life without complexity….I am calling My people to a state of purity….”  (JOM, Vol II, #30, Dec. 24, 1989, Simplicity)

          Our Lady of Emmitsburg continues:

“…In simpleness, gentleness and the quietness of prayer, God will

fulfill His Divine Plan in your lives.  God’s good works unveil in the simplicity of His Love.  Trust in His promise and be confident that He will fulfill all of His design for you in proper time….You prevent His Love from surfacing when you do not allow Mercy, compassion and honesty to be an integral part of your lives.  Less speech and more silence in prayer will reveal the Truth and allow the Divinity of Peace to enter….”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 24, 1994)

“The unfolding of your words gives light;

it imparts understanding to the simple.”

(Ps 119:130)

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers,

intercessions and thanksgivings be made for everyone….

so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.”

(1Tim 2:1-2)

The Catholic Dictionary defines dignity” as “the excellence that deserves recognition and praise in a person or thing, the height of which is God Himself  whose superiority over all creation is the basis for adoration.” The height of our human dignity lies in the fact that we are each created in the image and likeness of God, and are invited to be the adopted children of God and heirs to eternal life with Him.  However, in the history of the world, man has endlessly demonstrated how effectively he can shed his own dignity and strip others of theirs.  Restoring that dignity, especially to others, requires action, discipline and God’s Love.  Our Lord in His Lessons addresses this with many directives:

“…How do you restore dignity?  Do not seek vengeance with your tongues or be spiteful?…Be free from contempt and haughtiness.  Be a teacher by your way of living.  Preach by your deeds of a holy life.  Respect one another, and love one another with the purity of the love you have for Me!....Restore the dignity of My Love in your fellow brethren by being the living fruits of My Vine, the freshness and purity of beauty itself….”  (JOM, Vol I, #78, Aug. 12, 1989, Dignity)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg further confirms the honest effort and the commitments to prayer and love that are so necessary if we expect to call ourselves “children of God” and to help unite humanity and restore the human dignity God so desires for all His children:

“…Be honest and treat others with dignity.  Help the poor, the elderly and the young….Give to the less fortunate.  They suffer as representation of the humiliated Jesus.  Protect the unborn….Teach my youth, and unite all your resources in harmony….There is no time like the present to commence these activities….Prayer and Love will restrain His Hand of punishment from the lack of Love.  It is the only Way…”  (Public OLOE, Mar. 17, 1994)

“…You claim to belong to God, but you contradict your claim from your lack of commitment to daily family prayer, accompanied by leading a disciplined life working towards a pure heart.  Purity of heart comes by Divine grace; however, it also demands honest effort on your part in devoting your life to my Son…..You cannot call yourself a ‘child of God’ unless you serve the Lord Jesus, my Son….My time is limited in being able to address you….It is your choice, and the work of Divine grace demands effort from you….”  (Public OLOE, Feb. 9, 1995)

“These are persons whom we once held in derision
and made a byword of reproach—fools that we were!
We thought that their lives were madness
and that their end was without honor.
Why have they been numbered among the children of God?
And why is their lot among the saints?
So it was we who strayed from the way of truth,
and the light of righteousness did not shine on us,
and the sun did not rise upon us.”

(Wis 5:4-6)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg

Our Model of Honesty, Integrity, Dignity & Truth

“For if you keep silence at such a time as this,

relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another quarter,

but you and your father’s family will perish.

Who knows? Perhaps you have come to royal dignity for just such a time as this.”

(Est 4:14)

Can you even imagine how many people in the world do not know Our Lady as Mother, who do not even know about her, who have no idea what she does for them in spite of their ignorance or indifference?  Yet she is still there, by each of us, interceding for us and suffering in love as all mothers do for their wayward children.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg shares with us her journey:

“…Jesus sent me because, if people continued on a path without prayer and love, the world would surely end in destruction….He has allowed me to highlight His steps which would ensure the integrity and safety of the world, steps to maintain the beauty of the world and steps to being free.  Many people have chosen not to listen to my words or receive my help, yet many people have responded.  We must hope for tomorrow and work diligently in the field of Love.  The principalities of darkness would like to cloud your vision for a new tomorrow, and many people have become immune to the effects of Love….”  (Public OLOE, July 16, 1998)

“…If I did not love all the children of this world, then my Son’s Hand would hold me back and not allow me to instruct and bring my children closer to Him, and would not allow me to outline so much that needs to be done for them in order that they might have a more intimate and pure relationship with Him.  But because I do love all the children of this world, my Son has allowed me to go forth from His Most Sacred Heart, even in the midst of all the darts and swords that are being thrown towards my Heart, which I accept graciously if only my children would come to Him.”  (Private OLOE, July 13, 2003)

“…I am not a Mother who instills fear, but a Mother who gives hope.  A ‘mother’ has a responsibility to teach her children about authentic love, true freedom, honest practices and just human values, thus securing the respect for the moral order….There is no room for evil.  Jesus will not tolerate evil acts, and His Justice will prevail; but He is merciful to the repentant sinner….”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 19, 1999)

“Then justice will dwell in the wilderness,

and righteousness abide in the fruitful field.”

(Is 32:16)

And in her unique role, not only as our Mother, but as the Mother of Jesus, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, she is always pointing toward and preparing us for His Coming, in spite of the fact that so many, even so many within her Son’s Church, would like to see her leave or just fade away:

“…My Son is coming, and He will be looking to find those with ‘childlike’ and ‘little’ hearts, those not preoccupied with sensationalism and the complexities of life.  He will be looking for those who live a humble, modest life and who strive to love, who are honest, who are not filled with malice or guile, and who have been faithful to His Word and who trust in His promise with childlike, filial confidence….Jesus will be looking to find those with little and pure hearts.  Those with pure hearts trust in Him and are not afraid.  They are the Light of Jesus and are filled with hope….”    (Public OLOE, Sept. 30, 1999)

“There are no boundaries within the Love of God, and at all costs I will give so that all might be happy and safe within Him.  At the same time, I must protect the faithful, the innocent, the pure, and all my prophets who risk their very lives, their reputations, their identities, their dignity and their integrity for the Sacred Heart of my Son.”  (Private OLOE, July 13, 2003)

“…There are many people who would like to see me leave.  There are many who do not pay heed to my words and would just as soon that I fade into the woodwork….I have for so long petitioned God the Father to hold back the bowls of purification.  No one knows the exact time, but it is known to me that soon I will no longer be able to hold back His Hand of Justice….All those who have given unconditionally, without reservation and without seeking consolation, no doubt shall also live and see the Beatific Vision of the Triune God…..How blessed are you who have accepted God’s grace and have allowed His grace to change you into a child of purity, honesty, innocence, filial dependence, confidence, holiness and wisdom….”  (Private OLOE, July 15, 2006)

“Now, let the fear of the Lord be upon you;

take care what you do, for there is no perversion of justice with the Lord our God,

or partiality, or taking of bribes.”

(2Chron 19:7)

So What Can We Do?

“I and the children the Lord has given me serve as signs and warnings

to Israel from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies who dwells in his Temple on Mount Zion.”

(Is 8:18)

As a teacher, Our Lady of Emmitsburg recognizes our human weaknesses and faults, but instructs and challenges her children to be the signs of virtue. She teaches us how best to prepare ourselves and help others to prepare for a future of either unfathomable Joy or filled eternal despair:

“…If there is anything that I can give you to hope, it is to hope in my Son.  Give all that you are to Him.  Trust Him.  Do your best every day….Pray together….With this come the hope, love and joy that God gives to you....

“…Be at peace; and know that just as the day ends, the morning shall come until the angels are released with the seals from heaven.  Until that time, life will continue….You are signs of the Love, the compassion, the hope, and the honesty of this life.  You carry within your hearts the Divinity of the Triune God to all people….Even though there are many attacks that may come at you from the other side, know that you have been buffered with a shield, and that no harm shall come to you no matter how devastating, enticing, distracting or, even at times, fearful any event may be….”  (Private OLOE, May 29, 2003)

“…There are many people who are now rising to the forefront who will no longer allow people to slay your dignity and integrity, and to throw darts at my Immaculate Heart.  There are many, many people throughout the world who support my message of Love and my desire to bring all my Son’s children back to Him….Humanity falls short in their love through their own weaknesses. All are invited to grow in Love and to work through many faults and challenges.  But undoubtedly, it is the Love of my Son that sustains each of my children and gives each of them the ultimate epitome of Joy….”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 14, 2003)

“He has made known to us the mystery of His Will,

according to His good pleasure that He set forth in Christ

as a plan for the fullness of time,

to gather up all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth.”

(Eph 1:9-11)

So misunderstood remains Our Lady’s plan here in Emmitsburg at the Center of her Immaculate Heart—a plan allowed by God for the benefit of all the “children” of the world; and a plan that continues to be rejected and its proponents persecuted and ostracized; yet, a plan which includes the Eucharistic Reign of the Child Jesus and the Triumph of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart. Therefore, Our Lady of Emmitsburg continues to encourage all her children to retain their focus, to pray and to remain faithful and true to their inheritance as “children of God,” for God would never abandon any of us, and She is not leaving:

“…I am here at the Center of my most Immaculate Heart, which has been deemed so by my Son….where my Son is, and where the unveiling of His Divine Mercy shall commence.   Yes, my Son, as He rose on the day of His Ascension, will come back again in the same way at the end of time.  However, He shall also return, but the world has not yet acknowledged it, in an intermediate way, as my Son the Child, all pure, innocent and honest, alive and hidden in the Eucharist, totally dependent on God the Father, as you too are invited to be….”  (Private OLOE, May 20, 2004)

“…He comes and gives to those in a special way when He finds hearts that are pure and little, honest and totally dependent on Him.  You bring Him joy, and when He comes as the Child, it is because He is filled with Joy for you….”  (Private OLOE, May 22, 2004)

“   I ask each of you to continue to be brave, to be filled with courage and fortitude, and to be ready to rise to the occasion when you will be a mouthpiece for my Son.  Each of you will be a real focal point to whom people will be drawn because of your graciousness, your honesty and your directness.  These virtues you will use in pointing to where all people should focus and come, to the Center of my Immaculate Heart, and in pointing to the Eucharist and the Eucharistic Reign of my Son Jesus….”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 9, 2005)

In the Lord all the offspring of Israel  shall triumph and glory.”

(Is 45:25)

“…I do not believe humanity really knows the meaning of the Triumph of my Immaculate Heart.  It is not just one event, it is a process; and in this process, here the fulfillment will be, at the Center of my Immaculate Heart.  Here, here I am.  Here is where my Son has placed me.  Here my Son is with me….” (Private OLOE, Mar. 28, 2005)

“…Be at peace and know that you are protected within my most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart….There in my Womb, where my Son was conceived, there you also are born into a new life, one of purity and honesty, holiness and grace.  God graces every human being, not through their own efforts and not through what they merit, but as a gift; and in that gift, there you are.  If all should abandon you, my Son will never do that.  You will never be abandoned, for you have been called by name!”  (Private OLOE, Oct. 15, 2005)

“…Stand your ground and pray with all your heart.  Be honest, loving and genuine children of God.  You give God great glory when you give of yourselves; and He sees you, and He knows you.  Even with all the attacks that come your way, remember that Love is your sword.  God has a Plan, and I am not leaving….”  (Private OLOE, Mar. 2, 2006)

It has become very difficult for those trying to be faithful Catholic Christians to watch seemingly go to waste so much of what has been given to the “little” and “ordinary” people by God the Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady, not only here in Emmitsburg, but at so many other places and through so many other messengers around the world.  The apparent spiritual and human arrogance; the indifference and/or the fear of the institutional Church hierarchy and so many of its pastors and priests; the secularism and practical atheism of so many of our family, friends and enemies; the suffocating lukewarmness of so much of society in the face of such moral depravity; and the blindness and deception of what appears to be in almost all of our political leaders—all these together lead us now to plead with our God in the words of the prophet Isaiah:

“Let Him make haste,

let Him speed His work that we may see it;

let the plan of the Holy One of Israel hasten to fulfillment,

that we may know it!”

(Is 5:19)
