Ponder Introduction

The Life of Christ through Mary

“In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God, and the Word was God….

What came to be through Him was Life,

and this Life was the Light of the human race;

the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

(Jn 1:1-5)

On May 22, 2005, in a private chapel, following an apparition and Message from Our Lady of Emmitsburg, unexpectedly and in an audible locution through Gianna Sullivan, God the Father spoke the first of His monthly “Words” to the world, which continued through June, 2009:

The Words of God the Father

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

Dear children of humanity,

From the inception of time the Triune God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, gathered together.  In this meeting Creation unfolded; and the Eyes of this Triune Godhead, the Father, released a plan of Goodness and Joy, filled with all the good works that were to unfold in this Creation.

However, man went against My Word.  Man needed to repent and atone for sin.  From the inception of this most beautiful Plan of the Holy Trinity, it was determined that My Son would later come in human flesh to redeem the world which, created by My Hands, would come back to Me.

There at the same time was created the most beautiful, sinless Immaculate Soul, whose Heart would be pierced with a sword.  This sword would not only pierce her Heart, but also the hearts of those who would follow her.  She was always the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart who had dedicated her life to the Truth.  No woman has ever been created, nor shall ever be created, as pure and holy as this most Immaculate Virgin.

She now pleads on your behalf and has come to the Foot of the Throne of God.  She implores Our assistance and My intervention.  Now, for the sake and safety of humanity and through the prayers of this most pure Creature, I come to you with Words of freedom.

I am a loving God, a holy God.  I am your God.  There is only One.  There shall never be another.  The Mercy I give to you is the Mercy from the Womb, the Womb where my Son first became Flesh.  I am a God of kindness, and I am a God Who is loyal and faithful to those who love the Truth.

All may live in My Peace.  Even the birds in the air find rest for their heads; however, my Son Who was given to you was tormented.  My Peace now resides in the world because the Trinity is there with you, for those who seek to live in the Truth of God the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit.

Seek refuge in the most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, which is united to the Most Sorrowful and Loving Heart of my Son.  You cannot have One without the Other, for the Flesh in the Womb was the Flesh of humanity.  The Blood was her blood.  In His Glory is her glory, in which you are invited to share because she cannot fully come into Heaven without drawing her children with her.  She is imploring My help in all of this for those who desire to be consecrated to Me; and I will now intervene and want all to seek refuge in her.

The Presentation of the Child Mary

“I will put enmity between you and the woman,

and between your offspring and hers….”

(Gen 3:15)

Private Revelation and Tradition has revealed to us that the child Mary, the only daughter of the aged Anne and Joachim, was presented at an early age and lived several years of her life in the Temple before returning to Nazareth where she would later meet Joseph.  She shares with us these events of her young life:

“Everything that unfolded (many years later) with my Son in His Presentation, all the pain and sorrow, was first outlined in my life prior to even knowing my Joseph.

“There I was, a little child, going forth, given to the authorities, Immaculate and clean and pure.  Even as my parents offered me to God the Father, there could be no sacrifice nor loving service as important as that of me offering my Son to God the Father.   Nothing was more important than my act of offering my Son to God the Father!

“The pain and the sorrow, the indifference, the normality, and all the things we did as children, were only a page in a book, a page which was written not to remember, not even historically.  There would be nothing there to bring attention to my Son's Mother.

“But I served pure and clean, and was then betrothed to a man; and once again, after my Son Jesus was born, I went to the Temple for another Presentation.  The most important part of my life was hidden, hidden because no one wanted to really know what was in my Heart, and because no one would have believed even if I had told them.  What a lonely walk, truly in solitude!... Ponder, think and pray!”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 21, 2006)

How can this be, since I have no relations with a man….”

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,

and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.

Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God”

(Lk 134-35)

As per the Will of the Father, Our Lord, the Redeemer, and the Virgin Mary, the Co-Redemptrix made their journey together, beginning in that small village of Nazareth over 2000 years ago.  Through both Sacred Scripture and Tradition we have been provided with an overview of their journey together.  From private revelation we have been given some of the more specific details of that journey.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg now shares some of those most precious moments in the lives of the Holy Family for us to ponder:

“Ponder, little ones, how your Savior entered into the world born of your Immaculate Mother.  I, the Handmaid of the Lord your God, was betrothed to Joseph, who was a just man of the house of David.  As I was gathering water from the town well, a brilliant light from Heaven approached me.  Startled by this light, I made in haste my way home.  Once in my humble quarters, there again a brilliant light from Heaven entered my quarters; and from this light came the melodious voice of an angel who announced, ‘Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!  Fear not.  You have found grace before God.  You will bear a Son.  He will be great and will be the Son of the Most High.  The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His Kingdom will have no end.’

“My little children, God in His Love instructed my soul and spoke to me in the middle of the silence and darkness of the world.  Then I surrendered in the trust and poverty of a child.  I did not know the land I would travel or the route.   I had only one desire, that of reaching the summit of Love….You are also invited to walk the passage of Love, seen, though it may be veiled, with silence and little consolation….Your Jesus will turn your sorrow and darkness into joy, and a luminous light will dawn a new tomorrow….Walk where He leads you with the trust and poverty of a child.”  (Public OLOE, Dec. 16, 1999)

The Visitation

“Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age,

and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;

for nothing is impossible for God.”

(Lk 1:36-37)

Not long after the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary God’s desire and after her consent—her fiat”—was offered to Him, Mary, believing the angel’s prophesy of her elder cousin’s pregnancy, demonstrated the immeasurable riches of God’s grace as she made the difficult trip to see and help her much older cousin Elizabeth, who also was with her first child.  This grace was available to her in a very special way, but Our Lady of Emmitsburg reminds us that these immeasurable graces from God are also available to each one of us and will lead us to repentance:

“When I found out that my cousin Elizabeth was with child, I trusted and in haste went to her aid.  When God tells you something, can you not trust and believe?  Do you not realize that all of the faith and all of the graces and virtues which stem from faith come down to trust?” (Private OLOE, May 31, 2008)

“As the Word became Flesh within my womb, that very act was the beginning of my Son’s salvific action for you, redemptive in Body and Blood for your salvation and that of the whole world.  After that, within the womb of his mother Elizabeth, St. John the Baptist leapt with joy as he met my Son.”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 25, 2003)

“What does it mean when the Mother of God comes before you?  I went before my cousin, and she did not know that I was with child.  Yet, the baby leapt in her womb.  There was John.  How did she know that I was the Mother of God?  I did not tell her, so how was it that she knew that of me?  ‘For who am I that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?’ (LK 1:43)

“So now, here too I am with you, visiting you; and you exclaim,  ‘How is it that our Mother should come to us?’  And how is it that so many people do not see that the Mother of their Lord is among them?....I am but a lowly servant, but blessed be His Most Holy Name….The more that you trust, as I trusted, the more you are encompassed by the rays of the Holy Trinity, as if in a blanket of Love….Thank you for housing me in your own hearts, allowing me to visit you with my Son, so that your joy and exclamation can be, ‘How is it that the Mother of my Savior should come to me?’  (Private OLOE, May 31, 2005)

“Ponder my words, ‘My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, for He has looked with favor on His lowly servant.’ The Divine favor is His grace….Salvation does not stem from your own works, but through the immeasurable riches of His grace…In His merciful kindness, tremendous virtues will blossom and flourish through his grace….Do not allow His grace to fall on deaf ears through lack of cooperation….Responding to His grace will lead you to repentance….”  (Public OLOE, Sept 12, 1996)

“Blessed are you who believed that

what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”

(Lk 1:45)

The Name of Jesus

“Joseph, son of David,

do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.

For it is through the Holy Spirit that this Child has been conceived in her.

She will bear a son and you are to name Him Jesus,

because He will save His people from their sins.”

(Mat 1:20-21)

It is with great reverence that we honor the Holy Name of Jesus, a Name that was carried by an Angel from the Sacred Heart of the Father to Joseph, the spouse of the Virgin Mary.  With that Name comes great power and the opportunity to speak to  Our Lord within us.  Whether priest, religious or laity, Our Lady of Emmitsburg assures us that she still holds for us in her womb all the treasures of our holiness and glory in His Holy Name:

“If you are attached to Jesus, you belong to Him and you are safe in His Love.  His Name alone carries with it power and protection.   Ponder the Name of Jesus.  Say His Name out loud.  Repeat His Name quietly over and over in your heart.  The more you repeat the Name of Jesus, the more you will be able to have a dialogue with Him until you become aware of His beautiful silent Presence within your heart.”  (Public OLOE, Nov. 4. 1999)

“I am not asking you to follow me.  I am asking you to follow my Son.  If you follow my Son, thinking that you do not need my assistance as a Mother, then if you are a priest, I would suggest to you that everyday you do the sacrificial offering of the Holy Mass, you should do it as if it were your last….If you as religious or laity do not desire my words or my presence which have been given to you from God above, then I would ask you to read the Holy Scriptures.  Ponder His words and live them so fully in your lives that you can love and forgive both your neighbors and your enemies as if they were to be the ones to rescue you during your times of greatest difficulty and suffering, suffering even unto death….From my womb I gave birth to my Son.  In my womb I still hold the treasures of your holiness and glory in His Holy Name; and I provide a place for all children to seek refuge, to be safe, to be free, and to be most wise.”  (Public OLOE, Jan. 1, 2004)

The Birth of Jesus

“The angel appeared to them (the shepherds)

and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear.  The angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid;

for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all people.

For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you

 who is Messiah and Lord….

And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host praising God:

‘Glory to God in the highest

and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.’”

(Lk 2:9-14)

With profound humility and minimizing her role—a role which God Himself would honor above all other roles—Our Lady of Emmitsburg shares with us some of her deep insights into the Birth of her beloved Son, Jesus:

“…Allow me to say that God never needed even me.  I am nothing but a little atom, a speck of nothingness.  God did not need me to fulfill His Plan, but God chose me to bear your Savior.  And as a lowly servant, in belief, I humbly and simply said “yes.”  I did not know the way or the future.

“He was born in a humble way, no place for Him to really be born with dignity.  As a Savior, He could have grown to be a King, well-known and glorified by the people of the world.  But God the Father had a different Plan, a plan to stoop the nations of the world up until today.  He died a horrific death.  He could have saved Himself, but He died to save you.

“Ponder the moment of your salvation with the Birth of Jesus, Who humbled Himself and stripped Himself to nothingness in order to take on the sinfulness of the world.  Divinity meets humanity and humanity joins Divinity through the one act of Love from the Father, fulfilled through the Son of Man, and fortified through the Holy Spirit….The act of His Coming into the world, forfeiting His Kingship, through His selflessness, littleness, and purity, made Him vulnerable to the world’s rejection and invited you to receive the award from Heaven.  Take time to ponder how this one act brought forth salvation to the world….” (Public OLOE, Dec. 2, 1999)

“Joy, centered on Jesus and His mystical Life, shall bring forth interior peace and self-satisfaction.  Reflect on the Infant Jesus, and wait in anticipation for His joyous coming….Ponder His goodness and holy indifference which allowed Him to rise to the heights of humility….Strive to be ‘little’ children who desire to guard His word through faithfulness, love and humility, by surrendering to Divine Providence….”  (Public OLOE, Nov. 30, 1995)

“Though He was in the form of God,

Jesus did not deem equality with God something to be grasped at.

Rather, He emptied Himself and took the form of a slave,

being born in the likeness of men.”

(Phil 2:6-7)

The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

“Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel,

and to be a sign that will be contradicted….”

(Lk 2:34)

The Virgin Mary and her beloved spouse, Joseph—in the eyes of the world, like any other poor young, married couple in their time, but in the eyes of God, unlike any other young, married couple in the history of mankind, both then and now!  A journey that began in utter obscurity, but was destined to end at the Throne of the Heavenly Father!  Our Lady of Emmitsburg reflects on what went on in the minds and hearts of both Joseph and herself in this holy Presentation of Jesus:

“Little ones, as I brought my Son there to present Him in the temple to God the Father, there began the very first sorrowful sword that pierced my Heart.  That was the beginning of my most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, because as I presented my Son, Simeon said to me, “….and you yourself a sword shall pierce.’  (Luke 2: 35).

“Initially, my Joseph and I did not know what that meant.  Just like you today, you go about your ways and things happen and maybe you do not always know what they mean.  That was the beginning, the beginning of a long journey, a journey committed to God, a journey of willingly giving of self and surrendering, a journey of faithfulness at all costs.

“Like you, my children, oftentimes there is pain in your hearts and painful events that happen to you.  But remember that the sword, which pierces you, pierced me first!  To buffer your suffering, I am with you, if you will allow me to be with you.  How blessed you are to be called a ‘child of God,’ because children of God become the new way of life, of giving, of trust and of gifts from above!  This path is a new path which will come before you even realize it…. (Private OLOE, Nov. 21, 2006)

“When I presented my Son with my beloved Joseph, when the sword would pierce my Heart, I did not understand what was being said to me and with whom I was meeting.  And they all were saying so many things to me, with Joseph in the background taking it all in and realizing the pain that his wife would have to endure.  The pain and the sword went through his heart too.  There he was, trying to protect and guide Us.”   (Private OLOE, Feb. 2, 2005)

“…I left the temple with my Joseph and my beloved Son.  I left the temple pondering in my Heart the sorrow and the puzzle of what it meant that a ‘sword’ would pierce my Heart.  For God the Father had not revealed to me the true picture, just as He never revealed to my Son what would happen to Him at every moment.  It was by faith and will and surrendering that We joined together in Peace.

“So I left, and there I was with my Joseph, troubled and concerned, wondering about the future; and yet, trying to put it behind us, only to have it surface later.” (Private OLOE, Nov 21, 2006)

“The sword that pierces your heart, remember that it pierced mine first; so your pain is softened because I first have taken the brunt of it.  As I carried my Son in His Passion, I also felt His pain to give Him the strength to persevere.  They rejected my Son and persecuted Him more than the world will ever know and realize and come to understand.”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 18, 2006)

“Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word;

for my eyes have seen your salvation which you prepared in sight of all the peoples,

a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”

(Lk 2:29-32)

The Holy Innocents

“Rise, take the Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you.

Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”

(Mt. 2:13)

Both Our Lord, in His discussion of His Hidden Life and Our Lady of Emmitsburg relive some of those frightening moments of the Holy Family just before they began their flight to Egypt in fear of the slaughter of their Infant Son.  Our Lady also addresses the question “Why,” and links the blood of the Holy Innocents with that first Blood of her beloved Son—Blood that will forever be honored and adored by all humanity in the coming Eucharistic Reign:

“We did not have much time. King Herod had ordered the slaughter of all 32 male children, 2 years-old and younger. By the time he organized and ordered the troops, we were leaving by donkey for Egypt. One donkey was loaded with tools, another donkey with our necessary items, and the third donkey was for My mother and Me. We said good-bye to our friends as My father continued to strap all our belongings we could take with us onto the donkeys, The dawn was nearing as we left Bethlehem, and My mother with tears in her eyes said good-bye to the fond memories in our little modest home.”  (the Hidden Life, Jesus to Gianna Sullivan,  Nov. 3, 2003)

“As my Son was born He shed His Blood, the first Blood of salvation for all of humanity.  Then, as my Joseph and I fled to Egypt with Him, Herod martyred all those innocent children who with their innocence marked the beginning of the Eucharistic Reign with the blood they shed along with my Son’s redemptive actions….My Son was dependent.  He was innocent.  These are the two virtues of the Eucharistic Reign.”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 25,2003)

“…You wonder ‘why’ so many children were killed to save my Son.  Hatred and bitterness!  You ask God questions:  “Why” this and “why” that, and “where” were You when I needed You, and “why” did this have to happen?  It happened back then as it will happen now.  There is a reason that I am not allowed to reveal.  But the day will come when you will know, because all  the world will know.

“Was the slaughter and massacre of those innocent children then more than what the slaughter and massacre now is daily here?  With all the indifference and lack of holiness, why should my Son reveal the Truth of His Glory?....”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 26, 2009)

“A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation;

Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled,

since they were no more.”

(Jer 31:15)

The Holy Family

“Joseph rose and took the Child and His Mother by night

 and departed for Egypt….

He rose, took the Child and His mother, and went to the land of Israel.”

(Mt 2: 14, 21)

One does not have to look very far to see how successful Satan has been in the systematic destruction of the family unit and marriage itself throughout the world over the last couple centuries.  However, rising high above those destructive evil forces in the world is the Holy Family, ever present and providing a model of courage, fidelity, humility and total abandonment to the Divine Will for families—families of all shapes and sizes:

“…Especially now in this world with all the tribulations and turmoil, it is so important for you, my children, to focus not only on my Son, but also on the Holy Family.  There is your protection in a most loving way.  For I wrap my mantle around you and I protect you.  My beloved Joseph guides you.  He represents a just man, and he is an example of the true fatherhood for all the world.  And then there is my Son, most glorious and omnipotent....He gently smiles upon you….”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 7, 2003)

“Ponder my purity and what I have given to you by bearing the Word in my womb.  My “fiat” and my continuous joy in my God have protected me, just as your “fiat” and continuous praise to my Son will protect you….Reflect on the Holy Family and ponder the way We lived as We walked the earth….Focusing on the Holy Family protects you with the cloak of my mantle.  It inspires you to live fully within my Son’s means and through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  It invites you to the humility, righteousness and justice exemplified with great zeal and love by my beloved Joseph.  And it blesses you with the omnipotence of the Child Jesus Whose power and glory reign on this earth and throughout the entire universe.  It gives great glory to the incomprehensible Holy Trinity:  Father, Son & Holy Spirit.”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 22, 2003)

“What is important is that the family unit is ‘holy’ and more attention must be given to the unit itself, the father, the mother and the children. Prayer must be essential.  Yes, there are good times with much happiness, and there are troubled times, even with tribulations, frustrations, challenges and sorrow; but the family unit will live, if you desire it….Forthcoming in the world, there will be far more laity than priests.  The family who loves will be together and be a light for this new tomorrow.  Would it not be wise if you would ponder, consider and put into action, prayer in the family unit? The Source of all good against evil is with you. The Holy Family, yes indeed, We were attacked in different ways.  We were silent so evil could not know that my Son, your Savior, was your King.  That angered the other angels.  Now they target you.  Those who pray and unite together in prayer truly are safe.”  (Private OLOE, June 14, 2008)

….So I ask you to give to me continuously your prayers of thanksgiving as well as your controversies, your sorrows and your confusion.  This is what family is all about, to give and together to ponder.  With your comradery and with your family members you can make a difference as you sort through and figure out the experiences of your daily lives, as if you were doing a puzzle, trying to find the end piece…. (Private OLOE, May 15, 2004)

“They returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth

The Child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom;

and the favor of God was upon Him.”

(Lk 2:39-40)

The Hidden Life

“After Jesus was baptized,…the heavens were opened

and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon Him.

And a voice came from the heavens, saying:

‘This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

(Mt. 3: 16-17)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg relates how Jesus did not, even though He certainly could have, exempt Himself from meaningless works, daily duties, and fulfilling the Will of the Father which included subjecting Himself to  and overcoming the temptations of Satan—all for the greater honor and glory of the Father:

“My Son lived a hidden life for a long period of time for a purpose.  He gave great glory to God the Father in His humble, daily and oftentimes in the eyes of people, meaningless works.  He did not try to win the favor of people.  He knew he had the Father’s approval, and He found great joy in fulfilling the Father’s Will by faithfully tending his daily, little duties….Ponder, little children, how My Son, even in His hidden Life, outlined the way to holiness, and through his example of ‘littleness’ gave the Father great glory by doing His Will….”  (Public OLOE, Feb. 4, 1999)

“Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan

and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days,

to be tempted by the devil….When the devil had finished every temptation,

he departed from Him for a time.”

(Lk 4: 1-2, 13)

The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

“Why have you done this to us?

Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.”

And He said to them, “Why were you looking for me?

Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

But they did not understand…

and His mother kept all these things in her heart…”

(Lk 2:48-52)

“I can tell you how exhausted my Joseph and I were….We also had difficult times, not with each other, because he was a just man; but things happened all around us.  We were truly bombarded with attacks and distractions.  That’s what led to the anxiety of finding my Son when He ran away, thinking He was there to do the work of God—yes indeed—but failing to allow His parents to know.  The anxiety firsthand as a Mother and as a stepfather was immeasurable!  So I recognize and realize the sorrow, pain, despair, exhaustion and the fighting in every avenue the spirits that desire to destroy.”  (Private OLOE, June 23, 2010)

“…He went down with them and came to Nazareth,

and was obedient to them….”

  (Lk 2: 51)

The Passion and the Cross

“Woman, behold your son”….

Then He said to the disciple “Behold your Mother.”

(Jn 19:26-27)

In His Lessons to the world, Our Lord Jesus Christ establishes His Mother, the most perfect incarnation of equality and justice, as our Mother of Mercy, the only one who fully understands the mysticism of the Cross:

“I come still to encourage you to unity because the grace and center of mercy is My Mother Who has known the depth and breadth of My Way through My Death.  It is she who understands the mysticism of the Cross which man cannot fully embrace.  Mercy flows out to those who seek mercy.  I am Mercy.  My Mother is your Mother of Mercy.  She displays her virtue of hope.  She is Love because I am Love; and all who live in this Love, live in Me through her.  She is your Mother of Comfort, Grace and Elegance—the most perfect incarnation of equality and justice.”  (JOM, Vol IV, #24, July 6, 1992)

Although there have available through private revelation very detailed accounts of the suffering Our Lord Jesus Christ endured for the eternal salvation of each of us, still we cannot imagine what that infinite suffering was truly like.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg points to His humiliation, His rejection, His betrayal, His physical torture and His abandonment, while she pleads for our humility and thanksgiving:

“Can you imagine all the suffering my Son endured?  Contemplate the Passion, and you will see that no suffering will ever be as was my Son’s for humanity.  Most importantly, try to imagine just His act of humility in coming into this world.”  (Private OLOE Dec. 12, 2005)

“No one knows the depth of the pain and sorrow which He endured in patience for the salvation of humanity.  You will do well to ponder the Passion and Death of My Son….His Holy Cross and death delivered you from the darkness of death….He was sacrificed and endured the insults, scourges, spittle and sacred pains for you….Come to Jesus, Who was rejected and betrayed….He awaits you to dress His Wounds with your love….”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 26, 1999)

“Jesus is your Savior.  It is through this one Act on Calvary that you belong to Him and not because of your merits.  Rejoice that He is your Lord and that you are His, solely because of his Love for you.  Ponder in wonderment His Love for you….You can gain so much simply because of His Love for you as your Savior.  Any act on your part to achieve grace is an act of vanity unless you remain humble and meek of heart….Bow in graciousness, humility and thanksgiving to Jesus, your wondrous Savior.”  (Public OLOE Dec. 31, 1998)

“Greater love than this no man has,

that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

(Jn 15:13)

Our Lord certainly does not want the efforts of both He and His Mother to be wasted, even through the loss of one soul.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg affirms that her Son wants each of us to understand what salvation means, to be assured of the special place in His plan for each of us, to be inspired by the wonderment of His Life and His Love, and to be protected within her most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart:

“Jesus has great plans for those who persevere and remain faithful to His words of Truth.  All those who are weary and sick can rest in Him and be comforted and healed….Look to Him to fill all your needs, to fill your emptiness with joy, and to heal your suffering hearts….He bore the suffering of the flesh so that you would be comforted.  He shed tears for you and endured bitter scourging, abandonment and terrible agony for you.  He labored and died poor for your salvation.  Do you understand the meaning of these words?  Do you understand the meaning of salvation?  Ponder the reality of His walk of life, and how He was despised for speaking the Truth and the consequences He endured for love of you….”  (Public OLOE, Dec. 18, 1997)

“I would ask you to ponder His tremendous Love for you.  Be for Him what He has been for you.  Support Him, love Him, thank Him and rally Him on in your hearts as if this was the initial act of His sorrowful Passion.  Give Him your support….He looks to receive….We shall then move forward.  We will address all of the areas that have been thorns for you, those areas that have tormented you and caused you sorrow.  But they will no longer continue to cause you sorrow because my Son is with you.  As He makes all things new, He will make everything new for you too.”  (Private OLOE, Apr. 4, 2004, Palm Sunday.)

“Any time that you gaze upon Jesus in His Passion and ponder all His Wounds, all of the attacks, the insults and strikes, and all of His persecution—any time that you ponder these, He draws you into His Most Sacred Heart and he blesses you most abundantly.  When you are covered with the Blood of Jesus, you are safe.  Simply gaze upon Him; and every time you do, know He gazes back.  He is always watching you with Love and tenderness….Know there is a place saved for you—a special place where my Son knows you by name, and He desires you to live a special life in Him, filled with all of the wonderment of Life itself.”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 14, 2009)

“Jesus desires for you to not only ponder His Passion, but to know His Love behind His Passion.  He wants you to be inspired to the Love which redeemed you, sanctified you and allowed you to share in His glory….Allow your heart to overflow with joy and simplicity, and you will experience His gentleness, beauty and hope….Have complete trust in Him.  Jesus loves you and will lead you to unity and safety.  Everything will fall into order if you place yourself in His Hands….”  (Public OLOE, June 18, 1998)

The cross was not uncommonly used during the time of Jesus, and both before and after His Death, as a tool of torture and execution.  Traditionally, it has become the most important of Catholic Christian emblems, symbolizing the holy faith of the Church and Christ’s redemption of mankind, since Our Lord died on the Cross.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg, however, speaks of the seal of the Cross and the joy, comfort and protection that comes with her Son’s Cross, united also with the most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of His Mother:

“The seal of the Cross is tremendous indeed, and only those who get closer to my Son can really know the depth and the breadth of the all-encompassing joy, and yet the pain and sorrow that the Cross brings. The weight is heavy, however, the reward is great….What I can surely tell you is that for all you give, you shall never be sorrowful….” (Private OLOE, May 15, 2004)

“Look to Jesus; and see how He endured, because of your sin, the pain and suffering of the Cross for your salvation…. Ponder and plead to God, ‘Create a new heart in me.’  Do all you can to imitate my Son, to love one another and to do good….Walk with me now, and live the pain as a ‘mother’ and as a ‘father’ who witnesses their son treated as a criminal, known to be wicked, a liar, a deceitful prophet in his own right—yes, a criminal, but totally innocent, beaten and naked, humiliated and mocked.  Walk with me, and there you will be held, comforted, and protected within my most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.” (Public OLOE, Apr. 1, 2007)

Why do you harbor evil thoughts?”

(Mt 9:4)

“So if you have many questions and wonder “why” God allows this or that, or “why” His answers do not fulfill to your liking, or “why” your outcomes give you doubt or despair, then perhaps you should reflect on my Son Who Himself looked for help from God the Father and even thought that His Father had abandoned Him, or reflect on a sorrowful Mother who wondered “why” my Son would die in such a manner….”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 26, 2009)

“Let Him be crucified!”

But Pilate said, “Why?  What evil has He done?”

….”Let Him be crucified!”

(Mt 27:22-23)

Are you willing to ponder?

“Let the one who is wise heed these things

and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.”
