A Gift of the Holy Spirit

(Compiled by Michael T. Sullivan, MD)

"…Today, every human being, every precious soul has an opportunity

to say 'yes' or to say 'no'.

Listen, and you will hear words of wisdom and enlightenment,

words to follow, Truth in life, yours to be had…."

(Private OLOE, June 28, 2008)

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

"The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him:

a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, spirit of counsel and of strength,

a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord."

(Is 11:2)

As expressed in the Catholic Encyclopedia (New Advent), to the Holy Spirit are attributed the operations of grace and the sanctification of souls, and in particular spiritual gifts and fruits.  The 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit are freely given by God (Is 11:2-3), and they are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.   These are considered supernatural and permanent qualities which make us attentive to the voice of God, which render us susceptible to the workings of actual grace, which  make us love the things of God, and which consequently render us more obedient and docile to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit.  As permanent qualities, they can be nurtured over a lifetime to bring about our eternal reward, or they can be neglected and starved over a lifetime and convict us to our eternal damnation.

Introduction Wisdom Part - 1

Now we will ponder what has been given to the world through Gianna Talone Sullivan by God the Father in His Words, Our Lord Jesus Christ in His Lessons, and Our Lady of Emmitsburg in her Messages regarding "wisdom" and how it may apply to each of our very own spiritual journeys.

Part IV

The Lack of Wisdom

"The heart of a fool is like a broken vessel,

and no wisdom at all shall it hold….

As a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool;

and the knowledge of the unwise is as words without sense."

(Ecclesiasticus 21:17, 21)

It is not surprising that so much has been given to us from the Father, His Beloved Son, and Our Lady regarding "wisdom"; but it is even more surprising that so much has been said regarding the "lack of wisdom."  It has been pointed out in the "Words" of God the Father the lack of wisdom on the part of humanity in regards to the way in which His most pure daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, has been accepted and treated:

"Truly there is a lack of wisdom and a lack of humility on your part for not being able to see with the eyes of the heart the gift that has been handed to you.  Here you have the treasure of my Son's Mother who pleads your cause on your behalf, determined that all might be brought safely and freely to eternal rest.  Look to her and she will plead your cause, because in her humility, she knows the gift of Life.  O' how fortunate you are, children of humanity, to have been given such a treasure who so often is taken for granted, overlooked, and dismissed with indifference and ingratitude.  How fortunate you are for her ‘fiat!’…."  (GTF Jan. 8, 2006)

"I have not learned wisdom,

and have not known the science of the saints."

(Prov 30:3)

Our Lord in His Lessons describes the plight of those of His children who through their lack of wisdom choose to walk the way of evil, but then offers them and all His children the encouragement we need to take advantage of His Love and to trust in Him so as to receive true wisdom from Him:

"…Let go of those things you hold bound.  Let yourself be free, and you will be free of heart….There is no need to worry what someone will say about you….Do not waste energy on those who harbor hatred and are your enemy because of envy and jealousy….Be giving to those open to receive….Be giving to those who are not willing to receive, but have a clean heart.  Avoid the evil.  I will handle their unfair and deceitful actions….Simply focus on Me.  Do not worry if you experience defeat.  I will take care of you and deliver you to freedom.  Trust in Me.  You wish to trust in yourself over trusting in Me.  Those who love the things of the world apart from Me gain nothing, and do not know anything of Truth or Wisdom…."  (JOM, Vol IV, #66, Aug. 1, 1992)

"Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;

and to depart from evil, is understanding."

(Job 28:28)

"It grieves Me that many of My people have chosen to walk the way of evil.  They have chosen to be stubborn in their ways.  They want, but they refuse to give.  They must be right at all times and fail to accept error in humility.  Pride continues to control every element of their being; and when they receive what they have sought after, it is not enough.  They desire more.  Since they are never satisfied, they are never at peace.  Only those who bow their heads under the yoke of God can receive true wisdom through gentleness and meekness of heart…."  (JOM, Vol V, #28, Nov. 2, 1995)

"For to whatever man He sees fit,

He gives wisdom and knowledge and joy;

but to the sinner, He gives the task

of gathering possessions to be given to whatever man God sees fit.

This also is vanity and a chase after the wind."

(Ecc 2:26)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg reminds us that in spite of all God's graces, mankind has not only misused them, but in its selfishness has even insulted the Mother of God.  Rather than have a holy fear for God, so many people fear the Truth and run away from God and His Sacraments:

"…God's blessings have been poured out upon this country (and the world) since its inception and since its consecration to my Immaculate Heart….However, I believe that the people….have misused the graces.  Through their lack of gratitude, lack of fortitude, lack of prayer, and lack of intuitiveness in knowing to pray for God's Wisdom, they are now misled.  They are selfish and they are seeking self-promoting ways instead of the ways of God.  Thus, their ears are deaf, and their hearts are numb; not all, but many.  Those whose ears are not deaf and hearts not numb, even those I wonder sometimes if they truly desire to know their Mother, the Mother of God…." (Private OLOE, Jan. 12, 2004)

"In this time there are so many people who run away and are afraid.  I can appreciate all of that except, when the Truth is there, then who would want to run away from the Truth?  It is because there is a lack of prayer and community and a lack of the great graces of wisdom, prudence and discernment.  So many people are afraid….But if they practiced the virtues of God and remained faithful to His Sacraments, they would be very well-rounded and protected."  (Private OLOE, Nov. 4, 2008)

"They were troubled and reeled like a drunken man;

and all their wisdom was swallowed up.

And they cried to the Lord in their affliction;

and He brought them out of their distresses;

and He turned the storm into a breeze and its waves were still."

(Ps 106: 27-29)

Just as an ostrich might place his head in the sand in the face of perceived danger, as if that somehow would protect it or remove the reality of the danger, so too has much of humanity, including many in the Church hierarchy, closed their eyes to the truth of the times in which we are living, here and now at the end of this era.  Thus, devastation seems inevitable, but Our Lady of Emmitsburg promises that wisdom will be formed once again and that God's unconditional Love will never leave us, still allowing people the choice to accept His Love or eternally reject it:

"The world is in a troublesome time.  Evil has subtly infiltrated into the minds of people through many means.  ‘Anything goes!’  Morality, spirituality and responsibility are carelessly tossed around.  The world has reached its epitome of destruction and is on the verge of tragedy--tragedy against humanity and destruction at the hands of mankind.  Throughout history, in different eras, evil has penetrated to the core of humanity, but never to the extent that it has today--even far worse than during the times of the different world wars and those world leaders….

"…I have given messages of hope and spiritual preparation.  Many people did not listen, nor did they care.  Indifference and arrogance highlighted and exposed their ignorance.  Now these people will learn the Truth through their own difficulties and sufferings.  Wisdom will be formed once again after their devastation. But God's unconditional Love will never leave.  His grace will be there for all who desire to participate in His Life.  People may reject His grace and push Him aside, but ultimately they will come to know the Truth of His Love and what they could have attained.  People will all have the choice to accept His Love."  (Private OLOE., Nov. 9, 2008)

"The mouth of the just yields wisdom,

but the perverse tongue will be cut off."

(Prov 10:31)

With much regret, Our Lady of Emmitsburg delivers a very solemn message to all the world stating that things are "not fine" in the world and that it must be purged.  She then encourages us to use whatever time is left in this era very wisely:

"…No one can help or save you.  Only God!…And I am here to tell you that I cannot give you messages that would unrealistically imply how wonderful you are or that everything is fine.  Things are not fine!  The economy and the world are not fine because of free will and because of division and because of your own acts, too.  You who are privileged to listen and hear the words from Heaven, if you cannot act, how much greater the damage for those who do not hear?

"I can tell you:  The world will be purged!  God should be at the center of your life; and if you think He is at the center of your life, perhaps you should look again; for no words of wisdom shall be given now until you are purged of sin, and that sin must first be purged from within you.

"I am sorry if these are harsh words to you, but they treated my Son far worse.  My mission this evening is not to give you words of happiness and joy, but words of Life….The truth is the Truth, and you must know!  Whether you act on it or not is between you and God, for you are the one who will judge yourself, when alone you will see Him face to face.  At that point, I cannot help you any longer….If I did not love you, I would not tell you this.  It is because of Love that you are given a chance.  If you can change, the world can change!  If you do not want to be faithful to God, you do not have to; but God will always be faithful to Himself.  Peace is to be had, but not as you know it….With the limited time that remains--time in God's eyes being of no essence--but in your time, I would use it wisely, very wisely." (Private OLOE, June 16, 2009)

"And he will pour forth the words of his wisdom as showers,

and in his prayer He will confess to the Lord."

(Ecclesiasticus 39:9)

One of the most important messages Our Lady of Emmitsburg ever gave to the world was on March 9, 2000, when she said,:  "Those who pray together in the family as partners of love will march triumphantly into the Era of Peace."  Family prayer is something so simple, so inexpensive, so freely available to all  people of every race, age, religion, socioeconomic class and intellect; yet, it so often either left out or allowed to be driven out of family life due to the successful attacks, delusions and divisions caused on such a grand scale by the evil one.  The cenacle, during the difficult times when there is chaos and confusion and when the Holy Spirit will be protecting and helping us to discern the Truth, may need to be in our prayer families, whether that be blood families or spiritual families.  Only through prayer can we prevent the lack of wisdom and humility and self-righteousness that could damage or even destroy our relationship with God:

"I encourage you and invite you to pray within your families….God gives gifts; and when He gives, He does expect in return….If you do not respond to the graces because of your free will, then you lose a great portion of the wisdom and knowledge.  If you respond, the more you receive, the more you desire.  With the limited time left and with what is occurring in this world through desolation and the abomination of God's Love, those who have been completely separated from God and who have desecrated Him through various means, will only continue to cause more confusion and despair.  But those who respond in prayer will be like lanterns on a hill, giving light to all.…" (Private OLOE, July 31, 2009)

"They are a nation without counsel and without wisdom."

(Deut 32:28)

"No rock will not be overturned, no end will come before all that is true shall be revealed.  Everyone will be held accountable---all peoples, all races, all genders and all religions, those holy and those who desire not to follow God.  All will know the Truth!  Those who lead others away will have a time of hardship, more than those who do not know what they are saying or doing….The best thing you can do is to pray.  That is not to say that you should not continue your good works in defending the Truth; but it means that after you do, you do not become distracted and lose your focus….That is why many priests do not immediately go to Heaven--because in voicing their opinion they lead some others astray.  Yes, fear is part of this, as well as lack of knowledge, lack of wisdom, lack of humility, and self righteousness…..Remember:  your relationship with God is what you have alone!"  (Private OLOE, Nov. 25, 2009)

"For behold thou hast loved truth;

the uncertain and hidden things of Thy wisdom

thou has made manifest to me."

(Ps 50:8)

"To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise,

because you have given me wisdom and power.

Now you have shown me what we asked of you,

you have made known to us the king's dream."

(Daniel 2:23)

The role of Our Lady of Emmitsburg as both Mother and prophet of the end times seems to be not drawing to a close, but moving forward into a new phase.  Much has been said, and some have listened.  Much has been ignored, and many remain indifferent.  So now she humbly bows and backs away and waits and prays with us.  Yes, the time to "watch and see" has come:

"As I have said in the past, the true glory must be given to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So I now back away and bow to the Holy Spirit for His Wisdom and guidance; and I bow to God the Father for His Ultimate Justice and merciful compassion.  Justice and Peace shall meet, and Mercy shall be displayed….Let us see what God the Father does.  The time and the hour is known only to God the Father Himself."  (Private OLOE, Jan 12, 2004)

"Surely His salvation is near to them that fear Him,

that glory may dwell in our land.

Mercy and Truth have met each other;

Justice and Peace have kissed.

Truth is sprung out of the earth,

and Justice hath looked down from Heaven.

(Ps 84:10-12)
