FEAR

“What on earth are you afraid of?”

(Compiled by Michael T. Sullivan, MD)

“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy

that will be for all the people.  For today in the city of David,

a Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.”

(Lk 2:10-11)

In medical terms, “fear” is often defined as an unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger, often accompanied by increased autonomic activity (increased heart rate, blood pressure and sweating).  “Anxiety” is defined by an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by the same physiological signs, by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one’s capacity to cope with it.  However, “fear” in the most general term as used in the English vernacular, and so often in the multitude of mystical gifts from God the Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Emmitsburg through Gianna Sullivan, most often implies anxiety and usually loss of courage.  The moral evaluation of anxiety begins with the exercise of prudence, to discover if there are valid grounds for the apprehension.  If there are not, to act on the anxiety or fail to act because of it would be a lack of trusting God’s Providence.

The Fear of the Role of Our Lady

“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.  He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of David his Father, and He will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of His Kingdom there will be no end.”

(Lk 1`: 30-33)

Unfortunately, our Blessed Mother Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is so misunderstood by much of humanity:  by Catholics and non-Catholic Christians, those of Jewish and Muslim faiths, those of all other religious orientations, and so too among the agnostics and atheists.  No one other than Our Lord, the God-Man, could better set thr record straight.  Speaking of His Mother, Our Lord in His Lessons to the world through Gianna Sullivan said:

“She is the ‘Woman’ of the stars, clothed in beauty!  She is the ‘Lady’ of wondrous signs.  She is My Mother ‘Immaculate,’ born to give birth to Him Who was sent without sin for the salvation of mankind.  She is the ‘Virgin’ conceived in purity.  She represents hope to mankind….She is My Heart.  She is all of Me….Those who trust in her, trust in Me….I listen to her….Know your Jesus celebrates God the Father’s master plan for salvation through the Immaculate Conception of My Mother….She will grant your desire….Thank you for responding to My Mother’s call.”  (JOM, Vol IV, #10, Dec. 8, 1991)

Since standing at the Foot of the Cross with St. John, Our Lady has accepted her role as “Mother” of all mankind.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg through Gianna has continually reechoed this responsibility:

“I am your Mother; and no one can be me or take my place because I am here for you and I guide all of you to my Son, purely, immaculately and with His Divine Love.”  (Private OLOE, Dec. 6, 2004)

“Listen to my motherly call and respond….If you give yourself unconditionally to my Son, you will allow me to be a Mother who will provide the best for her children.”  (Public OLOE, May 26, 1994“It is not my desire to speak of things that would fill you with fear.  I warn you with words from Heaven and challenge you in order that your souls will be enlightened with God’s Truth.”  (Public OLOE, May 30, 1996)

Far too often it has been the apocalyptic messages of Our Lady, not only here in Emmitsburg, but throughout the world over the last 200 years, that have received so much of the attention.  Although this type of message has been delivered by her at times, she reiterates:

“Instilling fear is not the way….Attempting to gather souls by means of apocalyptic fear is misleading and is not my mission from Heaven….It is my desire to guide you in the way of Love and Mercy.  I have mentioned the consequences of a failing world without God and without Love.  This is not to cause fear, but to awaken souls and to protect them from destruction.”  (Public OLOE, Feb. 6, 1997)  “If you focus on messages that instill fear, you cannot focus on God’s Love and Mercy.”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 1, 1996)  “I give you words of encouragement; and yet, I challenge you because it takes time to change.  There is a great trial of faith coming, and it is necessary for you to willingly incorporate all the graces God has bestowed upon you now by conditioning your ways to be vessels of love and by tempering the vices of your flesh.  If you wait to the last moment, by reasoning you have time, it will be too late, because you will not be able to discern God’s Truth and could be pulled into the deceptive ways of my adversary.”   (Public OLOE, May 14, 1998)

Part of her motherly role involves not only warning but teaching. The fruits of her teaching her children would be the development of knowledge, hope and wisdom. Our Lady of Emmitsburg takes this responsibility  of teaching very seriously:

“I am not a Mother who instills fear, but a Mother who gives hope.  A mother has the responsibility to teach her children about authentic love, true freedom, honest practices and just human values, thus securing the respect for the moral order….I am here to gather my children, so that they may seek refuge in my Immaculate Heart and grow harmoniously in their spiritual development.  I point to my Son who gifts wisdom to all who desire to know the Truth and receive the Light to know themselves.”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 19, 1999)

“Practice your lessons from Heaven as an athlete who prepares for competition.  Do not let your defenses down at any time or you can fall prey to wickedness.  Do not spend time wondering what will happen to the world or what this trial will be like or whether you will survive.  I can assure you that the effects of this purification will not be what your imagination lends itself.  Only God knows this mystery and time.”  (Public OLOE, May 14, 1998)

Our Lady’s motherly role, just as is any other’s, also involves protecting her children, especially when they are naïve, when they fall, and when they behave like frightened children:

“You are all scattering like frightened children.  I have told you that my humility and tears of love have held back the angel’s sword and that I am determined to bring all my children safely to my Son; yet, you receive my words with fear and judgmental, hardened hearts.  You do not need to be afraid, but should be happy the Hand of God is upon you.  It is my duty as your Mother to point out to you that you are content when you hear words from Heaven which appeal to your own liking and needs, but you ignore and put off to fallacy any challenges or words you do not desire to hear.  Perhaps, you should humble yourselves and ponder what faith is and how it represents God’s Truth at all costs….”  (Public OLOE, July 20, 2000

In addition to being each of our own individual spiritual mother, Our Lady sees her role as Mother and Protectress of not only each of her children, but also of this nation (and any other nation consecrated to her):

“This country is consecrated to me.  Because this country has been consecrated to me, I will watch over it.  However, I can only watch over those who desire me and wish for me to protect them and guide them.  If they do not wish my presence, then they do not wish my Son’s Presence either, because of the Covenant of Our Two Hearts.  He became Flesh because of my blood.  He is God; I am not.  But He, being Divine, became Man to save humanity through me who was not only sinless, but also shared the Blood which He carried in His Heart and which He shed and poured forth for all humanity….If people continue to be so afraid and so rude, not only to other human beings, but so offensive to God Himself, then even though We will not leave, there will be a price for them to pay for the offenses they commit against His Most Sacred Heart.”  (Private OLOE, July 3, 2003)

As the years have passed since her initial daily appearances to Gianna in 1989, Our Lady has also expressed sadness at times because of the lack of response of her children to her call, to her message and even to her tears:

My sadness comes because so very few of my children have responded.  So many of them are afraid of what is real and what is not.  Yet they are not afraid of themselves.  The more  they think they know, the more they don’t.  Fear should never be directed towards God, except for the fear of God Himself because of mankind’s lack of humility.  However, their fear results from what each of them places on one another, without the Truth of Our Lord and Savior….”  (Private OLOE, June 22, 2003)

“The world is no longer good.  The world is existing only because God continues to allow it….I’m afraid to tell you that we are entering a period no longer of grace, but a period where each person’s soul must account for itself.  And if you are not already united as a family, it will be most difficult to join.  Few will survive, and many, many will come to know the Truth and pay the price of atonement through God’s Mercy.”  (Private OLOE, Oct. 30, 2004)

A mother is also one who prays for her children and invites others to pray with her.  Far too often, parents feel that prayer is the only thing left to offer their children when their children’s hearts are closed to God’s Love and Mercy.   So too does Our Lady of Emmitsburg pray for and with her children:

“Because this is the Center of my most Immaculate Heart, it is important that all my children, those who are afraid, those who are confused, and those who won’t stand up even if there be the sin of omission—all of them must look to their Mother.  I am the Mother of all the children of this world.  See how I not only defended my Son, but how I also will defend the Truth, as I will defend you.”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 6, 2006)

“Please join me in prayer for those who are fearful, and for those who cannot discern properly and remove themselves from the moment at hand to fulfill God’s Divine Will.  Unless you pray and pray, and unless you detach from the world through Love and service, and allow God to prune you and take away those areas which become the thorns around the soul, it is hard to be free.”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 1, 2005)

“What if I were not your Mother who loved you, a real Mother who cares for you, one who sees what you are doing and hears what you are saying?  Perhaps, children, you should pray that you can be like me—not speaking about one another, not voicing your opinions, but only loving and following what I have asked.”  (Private OLOE, Aug. 15, 2009)

Our Lady has a plan.  Her plan is conceived in the Heart of the Holy Trinity.  Our Lord in His Lessons summarizes and simplifies His Mother’s plan:

“Do not place Me at a distance.  I tell you, I am as close to your heart as you will allow Me!  I wish to dwell in you and you in Me.  My people need to allow Me!”

My Mother’s plan is so very simple….My people think that apparitions are the gala to come.  They have no conception of the breadth or depth of My Mother’s plan….My Mother’s gala is so simple that My people will be confused because of the lack of complication or extravagance.  It is so simple and beautiful that My people will desire to live in My simplicity and the beauty of Love.  There will no longer be panic—only Peace!  Panic, confusion, hatred, envy, fear, revenge, disrespect, pain and suffering will not longer exist, because evil will be destroyed!”  (JOM, Vol I, #42, Jan 27, 1989)

Since December, 2005, God the Father, in a very special way through Gianna Sullivan, has been speaking to humanity.  He is the Eternal Father, and it is His Plan.  Our Lady is His most perfect creation and His daughter; and He invites all humanity:

“If you come to Me with open hearts, all is made anew.  If you come, even with skepticism, I can make all anew.  But if you come blaspheming, especially blaspheming the tremendous gift of the Holy Spirit, then you cannot be made anew.  You cannot desire evil, for you must desire love and that which is pure.  Look to this most precious Immaculate Virgin, the Mother of your Savior; and there you shall see no guile, and that as she grew, Wisdom grew within her.  She gave all that she had and listened even more intently, giving and giving in joy to Me.”  (GTF, Feb. 8, 2007)

Listen!

On the Cross, Jesus to His Mother:

“Woman, behold your Son.”

Then He said to the disciple,

“Behold your Mother.”

(Jn 19:26-27)

Fear of the Response of the Church and within the Church

And the disciples approached and said to Jesus,

“Do you know that the Pharisees took offense when they heard what you said?”

And Jesus said in reply,

“Every plant that my Heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.

Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind.

If a blind person leads a blind person, both will fall into a pit.”

(Mt. 15: 12-14)

Our Lord gave 5 sets of Lessons to the world through Gianna Sullivan from 1988-1995—over 250 dissertations on the spiritual life.  He did not add to the Gospel Message, nor has His Mother.  He only reinforced and explained it; and in doing so, He sought to establish an intimacy with humanity that seems to have been lost.  However, even now, with so many aspects of this world spiraling out of control, He still meets the resistance of so many, including the theologians:

“My people need to learn the many facets of My Truth!  They want to debate the theological commands of My Kingdom, but they will not grasp the simple Lessons I teach.  How can I teach them fully, when they are not willing to learn the basic principles? Many theologians gather and try to interpret My messages….If I say, ‘Love one  another, and have mercy on one another,’ that is exactly what I mean!  A theologian will take that sentence and read into it various interpretations….”  (JOM, Vol I, #21, Dec. 22, 1988)  “ ‘I am alive, and I dwell among you!’  Your theologians will attempt to decipher this meaning….They instead should pray for the discernment of My meaning in their lives….My weariness stems from the pain which My Mother feels when she comforts her children and is not comforted in return.” (JOM, Vol I, #33, Jan. 12, 1989)

“Do my people not know what a blessing it is for them that My Father has allowed Me to teach them once again?  The time shall pass—day by day—until they realize that this gift has been taught by Me.  Pray when that time comes, it is not too late!”  (JOM , Vol I, #51, April 16, 1989)

Jesus is both God and Man, and as Man He shared in all of our human experiences except sin.  At times Our Lord openly expressed His frustration:

“I suffered frustration because so many people could not understand My message.  Many did not want to be saved, and many were looking only at the surface of my words.  The pain and frustration of My Heart was great.  It is like that now….Here I am, dictating words of Truth and offering the keys to the Kingdom, and so many skeptics and scholars look at My words for errors instead of reading them with their hearts, seeking the message….Do not My people realize how much I love them to ask My Father’s permission to be able to speak to them in the forms of these Lessons, so that they can learn and be with Me in the glory of everlasting life?”  (JOM, Vol II, #49, March 4, 1990)

The Church is the Bride of Christ; and as such, it does share in the responsibility of guiding the faithful in the discernment process involving private revelation.  However, in this modern era, the balance between ecclesiastical authority and charismatic grace seems to have shifted so far to the side of Church authority, that the supernatural as been effectively squelched by many in the Church hierarchy.  Our Lord in His Lessons addresses this:

“My people are so afraid.  They do not understand….Faith is required of My people.  They attempt to understand the deep mysteries of My Father and search for unattainable things.  While a search and inquiry of the Truth is tolerable and taught in accordance to the sound doctrine of My Church, caution is requested that they do not search for incomprehensible mysteries which will only deceive them….Come humbly before Me in faith….Offer yourself totally to Me in oblation….Be faith-filled people, lest you be deceived and lose in the sight of God any knowledge necessary for profitable comprehension.  Do not limit your own gifts by controlling what you will allow yourselves to give to Me.”  (JOM, Vol III, #5, June 4, 1990)

“Apostasy” can be defined as the abandonment of what one has believed in faith.  Over the last century through the mystical communications between Heaven and many seers and prophets, this phenomenon has been foretold for the times in which we live.  Our Lady of Emmitsburg too has spoken of this:

“The apostasy of the Church is at hand, because of the many who have neglected the Holy mysteries and Sacraments.  There are many priests who have not been reverent and pious in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.  Many have lost their dedication to God due to their love of honor and pleasures.  Many people are neglecting prayer because they have placed their interests above God’s interests in order of priority.”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 31, 1995)  “The apostasy of the Church is at hand, little children; and it is necessary that you return to God in faith, love and unity without delay, for days ahead will become increasingly difficult.  Only those who are steadfast in faith will be able to patiently endure the many hardships in the peace of God’s Love….There is no time for fear, only time for change.”  (Public OLOE, Aug. 24, 1995)

Fully aware of all the obstacles that have been placed in the way of her plan and in the way of the missions of so many of her messengers and prophets, not only here in Emmitsburg, but wherever she has appeared, Our Lady of Emmitsburg boldly states:

“I am here!  I am here with you and with all my children.  I am here to protect you and keep you all from harm….Those who think they are wise, righteous and all-knowing, oftentimes priests, cannot recognize the difference between the knowledge of the intellect and the knowledge of the heart.  Any thing of the heart is seen and perceived as an overreaction of emotion, and that of the intellect is perceived as truth.  However, the Truth is that where your heart is, there too is your treasure; and if you have my Son in your heart, not only in your mind, the words from your lips would be kind and fruitful and would embrace Love itself.”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 1, 2005)

Obedience, a term that has been used and abused relentlessly by many who have remained so misinformed, is always an ever present point of contention and understanding in matters of private revelation.  Our Lord Himself in His Lessons to Gianna first addressed the topic of obedience:

“Divine Obedience is the greatest gift My people could give My Father, far greater than sacrifice!  Obedience is devotion and love and mercy which My Father graciously accepts and reciprocates in rewarding one-hundred fold!  Obedience is being open to My words, accepting them and allowing My Love to mold you into eternal perfection….It is accepting Our Plan with trust in a secure future.  No matter how large the waves of life, the path of protection and security will take you safely through all treacherous waters.”  (JOM, Vol II, #41, Jan. 28, 1990)

Obedience can certainly be a virtue that leads one to true holiness and union with God.  However, an act of “obedience” can also be used as a crutch or as a shield for a coward to hide behind.  True obedience also implies the presence of legitimate authority; and in some cases, ecclesiastical preference has been much more apparent than legitimate authority being exercised in seeking and embracing the Truth.  Our Lady has often addressed this with Gianna herself and to those who have remained dedicated and faithful to Our Lady’s continuing presence here at the Center of her Immaculate Heart:

“You do not have to be afraid of what you say and to whom you say it, because I am there with you and you have the blessing in your soul.  The last few years you have been silent and obedient.  Now you are obedient, yes indeed; but silence is not so necessary because you have the Light of Christ in you; and with this virtue of holiness, you can shine forth.  You are to be Jesus, as He has said, not only on the surface, but within your hearts and souls.”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 1, 2003)  “You must be the Light of Jesus; and to validate anything, you, in belonging to Mother Church, must live and breathe the Truth.  Your actions, your love, your speech and your prayers all witness to the Truth.  Never fear, but know that an explosion of Light is coming—one where all the world will not only know the Truth, but must live it!  (Public OLOE, Jan. 6, 2007)

“Obedience is what you have followed, and for this I am grateful.  Yes, things will change.  The tide always goes out, and a new one comes in.  It is noted in Heaven:  those who have scattered, and those who have remained—very few!  Like the laborers in the field, whether you are among the wheat or among the weeds, all together you still remain.  You will see in time those who really rise in fortitude and in grace.  Nonetheless, I thank you; for this is the time of challenge, difficulty and change.  But I am with you, and I desire to bless you for your good works and your obedience to God—not only to God, but to Mother Church.”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 4, 2008You need not be afraid—ever!  You need not worry—ever!  I am your Mother Mary.  I am Immaculate, completely selfless and emptied, so that I can be all of my Son.  I am in your midst. I shadow you, selfless and emptied, so that I can receive your hearts; and then my Son will receive your hearts.  There We all are One, unified in the Most Blessed Trinity’s Divine Will.”   (Public OLOE, Jan. 6, 2008)

Our Blessed Mother is also the Mother of the Church.  As such, Our Lady of Emmitsburg also strongly affirms her own obedience to the Church:

“I do uphold my priests.  I do support this Church, the Church of my Son.  I do support everything in obedience to the Hierarchy of the Church; but when there is error, and when the ‘truth’ is not the Truth, then all must be revealed.”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 6, 2006)  “I have a Plan; and in a loving way as a Mother, I must reveal it while yet protecting this Church.  You may seem to be the target; but ultimately, I am the one, I am the one who is being sought out to devour and destroy.  What is being revealed is the Truth.  Those who desire to deceive God become entrapped within their own ways, and in the end all are exposed.  The humble weep now; but soon those crowned and robed in the Church’s garbs will be stripped, and all shall see the Truth.”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 14, 2006)  “Be mindful that none are infallible, even the prophets who have gained the recognition of pious belief from the Church.”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 2, 1995)

Our Lady also speaks about those whose hearts have always been closed to her message; and to those who initially listened, but have since scattered; and to those who may very well be open to her message, but  shy away because of fear of retribution from their superiors, particularly Marian priests and seminarians:

“In this time there are so many people who run away and are afraid.  I can appreciate all of that except, when the Truth is there, then who would want to run away from the Truth?  It is because there is a lack of prayer and community and a lack of the great graces of wisdom, prudence and discernment.  So many people are afraid….”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 4, 2008I have been coming so long, inviting my children to return to God....I am concerned at this point because I have given many, many messages to many, many messengers; and yet, so many others, including some Church authorities, think they know what the Truth is.  They think that they do not need any more assistance, either Divine or through those whom God has selected, even though there is a discernment process through Holy Mother Church.”  (Public OLOE, Nov. 1, 2006)

“I have also spoken in the past that my Son is the Light of the world.  If something is not correct, then if you do not speak up and challenge and change this, you will be held accountable.  There are many of my beloved Christian children who are so afraid, afraid because they are confused and afraid because they fear disobedience; but there has also been a tremendous sin of omission on the part of some in the Church Hierarchy.”  (Private OLOE, Feb. 6, 2006)  To many of these Our Lady says:  “I have told you that there is not enough time to worry.  There is only time to change, and no time to fear.  Apparently, not only do you not fear, but neither are you changing!” (Public OLOE, Nov. 1, 2006)

“Will there be a shepherd who will rise to the forefront to speak, live and walk the Truth?...To what end is anger taken to despair in order to prove a person ‘right’?  To the point that my seminarians cannot even receive, ponder or read any words that ‘allegedly’ could be true without fear of condemnation or of being banned from the priesthood.  Wrong!  This is wrong!”  (Private OLOE, Jan. 3, 2009)

No matter how many times a child learning to walk may fall, a mother will always be there to help her child get up and to encourage that child to take another step.

As a loving Mother, Our Lady always encourages her children:

“So your focus must be to continue on.  Give and give!  Do not be afraid in where I have led you.  Do not be afraid of any person within the Church or without.  All are united in one if they are united to God.  You are united with them if you are united to God, because you cannot know all of the people—either within the Church or without—who are united to God.  That does not mean that you should not prod or ask.  Prod and ask!  Continue!  Continue to pray fervently and to do as God has invited you to do.”  (Private OLOE, Oct. 4. 2009)  “Never for a moment should you believe that you are free from observation by other people.  You should know that those who fight for the Truth and defend the Truth are looking towards you; and those who are afraid that they have misled people from the Truth, even though they may be Church authorities, are also looking towards you, observing you, watching your every action to see how you fulfill the message of my most Immaculate Heart.” (Private OLOE, July 16, 2003)

But a Pharisee in the Sanhedrin named Gamaliel said to them:

”Have nothing to do with these men, and let them go.

For if this endeavor or this activity is of human origin, it will destroy itself.

But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them.

You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”

(Acts 5: 34-39)

Fear of the Inauthenticity of the Messenger-Prophet

The Lord to Joshua:

“Be brave and steadfast,

for it is you who must bring the Israelites into the land

which I promised them on oath.

I myself will be with you.”

(Deut 31:23)

“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house.”

(Mt. 14:57)

Even though God does not owe the world an explanation as to why He does what He does, yet Our Lord in His Lessons to the world offers a very simple one to both quiet His critics and to even encourage them.  Listen!

“Many do not even wish to get involved by reading My messages because they are afraid that it is not I, and are afraid of their credibility coming from mankind!”  (JOM, Vol II, #49, March 4, 1990)   “My people, I wish to tell you that I have not chosen this child (Gianna) because I love her more than you!  There is no favoritism in My Love.  She seeks first the Kingdom of God.  She brings to My most compassionate Heart daily prayers for you.  She pleads for your salvation, and I listen to her.  I listen to her because she listens to Me!    I tell you that long after My Mother is no longer permitted to come to you, I shall continue to speak to her because she listens to Me.”

“Why do I mention My servant?  She works, as you, and lives in My sacrament of love and marriage, as many of you.  Why do I mention her?  Because I wish for you to know how very extraordinary you all are and special to Me!  I love you all!  I tell you this so that you will know that you can live in Me.  If I listen to her, who is very ordinary, would I not listen to you if you gave Me your heart?  I tell you, My children, know that all of you will receive the great reward which awaits you if you will allow Me to give it to you!”  (JOM, Vol I, #62, June 21, 1989)

Many assume that to be a messenger or prophet requires a person who is already a saint, a person well on their way to holiness.  However, throughout the Old and New Testament, and in the lives of many of the saints, this has certainly not been the case.  In fact, Our Lady of Emmitsburg said to Gianna:

“I desire to tell you that you have been called, not because of your strengths, but because of your weaknesses.  Because only in your weaknesses can God flourish through you out into the world.”  (Private OLOE, June 8, 2002)  “God loves you in your weakness and invites you to trust in Him so that you can grow in holiness and humility.  If you seek to love as God loves and to do His Will, God can turn your human weakness into a strong pillar to house great graces and virtues.  But if you have repugnance for your weakness, avoiding God’s Mercy, you will weaken, and vices of self-pride and lack of patience will prevent God’s pillar of graces to rest with you.”  (Public OLOE, May 11, 1995)

So many have used this fear of authenticity as an excuse to turn away from so many gifts from Heaven and rest in their own self-pride and self-righteousness; however,  Our Lady of Emmitsburg addresses this:

“Fear God that you might not offend Him in self-pride and self-righteousness….But do not fear whether you are being deceived in trying to authenticate my presence….You are all novices in the knowledge of His most merciful Love…Remove the idolatry you have formed in yourself and have placed higher than He.  He is your God, and I have been allowed to come here to implore you to focus on Him, trust Him and return back to God.”  (Public OLOE, April 28, 1994)

“Jesus feeds you and nourishes you with the Spirit of His Life and His Love.  You must also nourish one another with His Spirit of Love….Service must be out of genuine love for it to be fruitful….As He walked the way of human life, He suffered tremendous interior pain, for few received Him.  Is it not the same for those who are authentic?  They are persecuted, spoken ill of by others, and generally not received by the authorities of the Church.  Few people really desire God to be God, including many in the Church, because they are afraid their own desires may not be fulfilled and God might ask them to do something different.”  (Pubic OLOE, July 29, 1999)

Our Lady of Emmitsburg concludes by reassuring her children on how God works and what we can look forward to.  She also affirms that just as in the time of Samuel, God chooses whom He desires and proceeds according to His Plan, not ours:

“I tell you that the world will know, at the point when God desires, the authenticity and validity of what they could have received, but through their pride chose to walk away from because of fear of being deceived.  It is better for everyone to join now and to live the good fruits faithfully, as you are doing through my words, than to be presumptuous and righteous in thinking they know otherwise.”  (Private OLOE, April 26, 2008)

“God gives certain gifts to whom He desires, when He desires; and nothing is impossible with God!  You have been obedient; and the great theologians and Mariologists that you have with you, men of both great wisdom and age, who know and have discerned these gifts, have served you well and will guide you.”  (Private OLOE, Nov. 28, 2006)

The Lord to Samuel:

“Do not judge from his appearance or from his lofty stature,

because I have rejected him.  Not as man sees does God see,

because man sees the appearance, but the Lord looks into the heart.”….

Samuel to Jesse:

“The Lord has not chosen any of these.”…

”Are these all the sons you have?”…

“There is still the youngest who is tending the sheep.”…

“Send for him.”… “There—anoint him, for this is he!”

Then Samuel anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David.

(1 Sam 16: 7-13)

“Do not be afraid, just believe.”
